About Charlotte Angels

Charlotte Angels is a non-profit organization founded in 2019 as a chapter of National Angels. The mission of Charlotte Angels is to walk alongside children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. The vision of Charlotte Angels is to create sustainable change in the foster care system here in North Carolina and beyond through the Love Box and Dare to Dream programs. This is accomplished through the deliverance of core values surrounding community, empowerment and hope.

Connecting volunteers to children and parents in the foster care system through the Love Box and Dare to Dream programs is the vehicle through which Charlotte Angels and all the other National Angels chapters are working to change lives.

Love Box volunteers commit to a year of delivering a monthly Love Box containing household items, food, school supplies, clothes and “extras” - all of which are tailored to the family’s specific needs. Volunteers coordinate Love Box deliveries at least once per month, and these visits often involve additional time and mentorship from the Love Box Leader. This additional time can be in the form of dining out, a play date at the park, or simply spending time with the child in care, biological children and the rest of the family during drop off. The Love Box program provides financial and emotional support to the foster family as a whole, not just to the child in care.

The Dare to Dream program is an opportunity to individually serve an aged-out or at-risk to age out youth in foster care (ages ranging from 15-21). Dare to Dream mentors are advocates, teachers, guides, role models, valued friends and available resources. The heart of the Dare to Dream program is to walk alongside youth as they navigate life's challenges. The youth in this program need the wisdom, advice, encouragement and community that mentors can provide. Mentors meet practical and emotional needs as well as provide guidance through developmental milestones. A mentor commits for one year (but hopefully for a lifetime) to meeting with the youth every other week to set goals and help them achieve their dreams.
