ANSWER is a 501c3. The idea for ANSWER Scholarship began years ago. She vowed to give back one day to the community that believed in her.

Our mission: To mentor and prepare mothers of school age children to achieve a college education and inspire them to be role models of academic, personal, and professional success for their children. Susan Andersen put herself through college and was grateful to receive a four-year partial scholarship from a Charlotte organization. From that desire, ANSWER was born. Many others have joined what Su

san began. ANSWER has awarded $532 in scholarships to 101 mothers so far thanks to gifts from individuals, organizations, and houses of worship. We've helped remarkable mothers in the Charlotte region earn college degrees and become strong and self-supporting. Their children are inspired to follow their moms' example and work harder in school. We invite you to learn more about our work. This May, we proudly celebrate Monkia as she graduates from Winthrop University with her Bachelor of Arts in Business!

As a first-generation college student and the first in her immediate family to graduate from high school and attend college, Monkia's journey is one of determination, resilience, and perseverance. As a mother of three, she overcame obstacles that delayed her educational goals, never giving up on the dream she started years ago.

Monkia's accomplishment is about more than earning a degree, it's about creating new possibilities for her family and showing her children that with focus, hard work, and dedication, anything is possible.

For 20 years, ANSWER Scholarship has been changing lives, one scholar mom at a time.

What began as a dream to help mothers pursue higher education has grown into a powerful legacy of opportunity, hope, and transformation. Over the past two decades, ANSWER has supported 163 women on their educational journeys and invested more than $1 million in scholarships.

Behind every scholarship is a story of determination. Behind every graduate is a family whose future has been forever changed.

As we celebrate 20 years of impact, we are grateful for the donors, volunteers, mentors, partners, and supporters who have made this milestone possible. Together, we are helping scholar moms build brighter futures for themselves, their children, and generations to come.

🎓Meet A Graduate: Melissa Poindexter 🎓

Melissa Poindexter’s journey is fueled by compassion and determination. A wife and mother of two, she spent years as a hairstylist before discovering her calling to care for people facing serious illness.

Melissa recently graduated from Gaston College with her Associate Degree in General Education and is continuing her education at Lenoir-Rhyne, where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her goal is to become a hospice nurse, providing comfort and care to patients and families when they need it most.

Raised by a teenage mother, Melissa is breaking cycles and creating new opportunities for her family while showing her children the power of education and perseverance.

Congratulations, Melissa! We are so proud of you and excited to see all that lies ahead. 💙

Our ANSWER and Hope House Foundation of Huntersville NC women had the best time at a beautiful cabi event hosted at 💙 From stylish clothes and jewelry to endless laughter and happiness, it was such a special night celebrating amazing women together.

We are incredibly thankful for nonprofit partners who pour so much love and support into the women we serve. Thank you for helping create moments that inspire confidence and community. ✨

Our May Celebration Luncheon was a beautiful reminder of the power of community, generosity, and hope. We gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of our scholar moms, honor our graduates, and look ahead to an exciting new scholar year. Because of the incredible support of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and guests, we are thrilled to share that together we raised more than $53,000 to continue helping scholar moms pursue higher education and create brighter futures for their families.
