Queen City Performing Arts has a long and meaningful history with the Charlotte Pride Band. We were honored to help support the band’s early years, have collaborated on numerous performances, and many members of our organizations have shared the stage together.
Our thoughts are first and foremost with anyone who has been harmed. We recognize that coming forward about sexual abuse is extraordinarily difficult, and those who do deserve to be met with compassion, respect, and the assurance that they will be taken seriously. We also recognize that news like this can be especially painful for survivors of sexual abuse and misconduct throughout our community.
Organizations that serve the public, especially those that foster close artistic collaboration, carry a profound responsibility to provide environments worthy of the trust placed in them. No artistic accomplishment, institutional history, or individual reputation should ever outweigh the safety, dignity, and well-being of the people who make our work possible.
At Queen City Performing Arts, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering an environment where singers, volunteers, staff, and audiences are treated with dignity and respect. That means boundaries are honored, concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation, and reports of misconduct are addressed promptly, thoughtfully, and responsibly.
The strength of our community is not measured by whether difficult situations arise. It is measured by how we respond.
We are grateful for the important role the Charlotte Pride Band has played in our community and wish its members strength as they move forward.
