Let's talk about Cub Scouts and Range Activities (previously Shooting Sports). Did you know that Cub Scouts can only participate in Range Activities at District or Council events? That's right, and there are usually lots of opportunities each year.

Do you know what we need to offer Range Activities for Cub Scouts? First, we need ranges. Our Council has provided some awesome facilities for our use. Second, we need equipment (BB guns, bows, arrows, etc.). Our Council has provided everything we need in that regard, as well. Third, we need range staff. Our range staff are 100% volunteers, usually parents of current Scouts. Anyone can join the range volunteers. The training is free and no previous experience is required. We will teach you what you need to know. Just be ready and willing to learn.

If you are interested in joining the team, please look for the upcoming training courses (4/11/26. 5/9/26 and 5/30/26) on the Council calendar at https://www.mccscouting.org/calendar . The courses should be listed sometime this month.

It's time for more training!!! If you are interested in helping out as a Scouting America Rangemaster (used to be Cub Scout Range Master), please consider our September 20th class. You can find the link on the Council calendar, or right here: https://www.mccscouting.org/content/131406/Cub-Scout-Range-Master-Training--September-20
The class is FREE, so you only need to give some time. The credential is good for two years. Think of all the help you could provide over two years!
