Michelle always loved being outdoors, especially going to the beach. Her daughter, Lily, said her mom loved her kids and God the most in life. In her spare time, Michelle loved to garden, watch Golden Girls, and cook.

Michelle’s eyes were donated, but sadly, couldn’t be transplanted. Since Michelle said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call her a “Donor in Spirit.”

Kenneth had a heart of gold according to his son, Christopher. He said his dad loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known as an incredibly hard-working man, willing to do anything for his family. Christopher said, “I miss his bright blue eyes, his sense of humor, and most of all, I miss his voice.”

In his spare time, he loved to listen to music. Kenneth was also a fan of tinkering with stuff, always keeping himself busy.

Kenneth’s organs were unfortunately not able to be donated. Because he said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call him a “Donor in Spirit.” If you want us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

Despite living with multiple health issues, Kris never let that stop her from enjoying life. Her mother, Kay, said Kris was always thinking of others. At 35 years old, she became a registered nurse after lots of hard work. At the same time, she was raising 3 kids while dealing with her own health problems. Kris also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In 1971 and 1972, Kris was awarded the title of “Little Miss Statesville.” Those are fond memories for Kay, who tells us, “Kris was always a princess to me.”

Kris saved 2 lives through organ donation. She also donated 2 organs for important medical research. If you want us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

At the end of August, we hosted our annual Donor Remembrance Celebration. It’s an opportunity for the families of organ, eye, and tissue donors to celebrate their loved one and their lifesaving legacy 💙💚

Guests painted rocks in their loved ones' memory, learned about grief resources, placed pictures and written messages on our Wall of Heroes, and released butterflies in honor of their loved ones' gift of new life 🦋

The Honoring Our Heroes tribute slideshow was accompanied by a rendition of “Rise Up” by LifeShare teammate, Joyce. Families also heard a message of encouragement from donor parents, Greg and Cindy, and a message of thanks from Valerie, a grateful heart recipient.

Felisha loved to brag to anyone who would listen about her wonderful children and grandchildren. Her daughter, Brittany, said Felisha always sensed when someone needed encouragement or cheering up. She gave great advice and was honest even when it was hard to hear.

She loved to pass the time chatting on the phone. Brittany said they would spend hours talking and laughing about all kinds of things. She was also known for leaving silly voicemails.

Felisha saved someone’s life through the donation of her liver. If you want us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

If someone walked into a room where they knew no one, Nick would seek them out and start a conversation. His family said Nick “cared for everyone around him no matter if it put him down in the process.” He was very smart, always wanting to share his knowledge with those around him.

Nick was able to excel quickly at anything he focused on. He enjoyed showing off magic tricks, playing video games, building his own computers, and performing as a musician. He was a lifelong learner and enjoyed studying any new topic or interest.

Nick will heal 237 people through the donation of his tissue and was able to give the gift of sight through eye donation. If you want us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

Joshua’s laugh was contagious. His mother, Susan, told us how giving and loving her son was and how he just wanted the same in return. She said Joshua had an old, but very caring, soul.

He was a hard worker, eager to provide for himself and those close to him. In his spare time, Joshua loved skateboarding, listening to music, watching movies, and playing video games.

Joshua saved 5 lives through organ donation. If you want us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/
