North Carolina Animal Federation Our Mission
The mission of the North Carolina Animal Federation is to advance professional development, legislative participation and education for animal

HISTORY
In 2006, there was an effort to form a State wide federation consisting of animal welfare professionals in order to have a unified voice in NC on animal issues. Originally representatives from western, piedmont, charlotte, and the raleigh durham area met on a monthly basis to establish the purpose and structure of the federation. During 2006 and 2007 the founders worked with a consultant w

ho had helped form other state humane federations and regional coalitions. Originally, the group identified the following goal areas:

Legislation – 77%
Professional Training – 44%
Professional Networking – 44%
Established as state experts in industry – 11%

As the coalition developed and by laws were formed, the name and mission of the Federation was formally concretized. The North Carolina Animal Federation (fondly known as NCAF) was officially formed on the eighth day of November 2006,
Our purpose is to unite North Carolina Animal Welfare Organizations and their Professionals to exchange ideas and information while working collectively to elevate the standard of care and level of knowledge related to animal welfare in the state of North Carolina. Our mission is to advance leadership through collaboration, professional development, legislative participation and education for animal organizations in North Carolina.

🚨 URGENT: Puppy Mill Protections Hidden in NC Bill 🚨

HB 96 was meant to help property owners deal with squatters—but the puppy mill industry with the help of a few lawmakers quietly added a provision that blocks local governments from banning the sale of puppies in pet stores. This move directly protects puppy mills and undermines animal welfare laws passed in NC communities.

This isn’t what the bill was meant to do, and it’s happening behind closed doors. Our voices matter—don’t let backroom politics put dogs at risk.

Contact Governor Stein and ask him to VETO HB 96!
