Today, Wednesday, September 23, 2026, MARS is assisting the Levine Children's Hospital in having their kids talk with the astronauts on the International Space Station. This will start at 12:51 PM ET immediately following the ARISS contact. The Special Net will be on the 94 and 23 repeaters. The goal of this net is to provide an opportunity for the kids at Levine Children’s Hospital to use the radio and see what it is like. General questions about space, astronauts, technology, and radio communication are all perfectly fine for the net. All hams are welcome to check in. The Net will close about 2:00 PM. All ham radio operators are invited to check into the Special Net.

There will be designated operators who will talk with the kids. We expect that the kids will join in the net about 1:10 PM. Please check in if you can!

Ham radio is all about community and helping others when needed. Well, a prominent member of our community is in need of help, so let's show up and do what we do best!

Tony Jones, N4ATJ, has had some financial strain put on him after the passing of his father. As bad luck would have it, the vehicles he uses to transport his mother around need repair. All in all, times are tough.

As a result, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help Tony during this moment of financial need. Give what you can if you have the means. If you aren't in a position to contribute, then forward this to others who might. Any amount of help is appreciated!

One more day, folks! Will *YOU* be there? Come join us at the Park on Wilgrove in Mint Hill starting tomorrow at noon and going on until Sunday @ 2pm!

New hams, not-so-new hams, and the ham curious are all welcome to join us this weekend for the 2026 ARRL Field Day event! Get on the air, learn about radio and equipment, get help on any of your gear/questions, and learn to build an antenna!

It's finally June, which means that Field Day is coming up THIS MONTH! We're getting everything ready to set up shop on the 27th of this month at the Park on Wilgrove in Mint Hill! Are you coming? Leave a comment if you are!

We're going to have both digital and voice stations set up (and air-conditioned!), along with a Get On The Air station for anyone and everyone to use! So if you're a seasoned ham or curious about the hobby, we welcome you down!

On Saturday, June 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society (MARS) will officially kick off the annual American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day Weekend and as part of it we'll have a "GOTA" (Get On The Air) station that anyone can use. You'll be guided by an experienced operator. All guests are welcome! The Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society will base its operations at the Park on Wilgrove, 7750 Jim Harper Ln, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
