Wheel With Me Foundation

Wheel With Me Foundation Dedicated to integrating spinal cord injury residents into an independent community
after their injury. There are 17,000 new spinal cord injury cases a year.

Because that number is so "small" a lot of the issues patients face as wheelchair users are overlooked. People don't realized that number is accumulative because the spinal cord doesn't always heal, meaning people don't regain, sensation, bowel/bladder control, or movement. A lot of the "opinions" patients are given when initially injured stick with them throughout their trials and errors of life.

The Wheel With Me Foundation is a 501c3 non profit established in May of 2016, dedicated to building a transitional home for spinal cord injury patients to integrate them [back] into an independent society. We plan on accomplishing this by getting the patients in the house right out of in-patient rehabilitation. Health insurance covers a rehab stay long enough to teach you how to "exist" in society; Wheel With Me focuses on teaching you how to "live" in society.

An awesome video from of their custom adaptive crib! Todd, his dad, and a friend built this awesome tool 9 years ago.

Yes it’s high, they say everyone comments on that but it’s the best option for Todd to have independence as a parent! Their first 2 kids never attempted to jump out so they are hoping it just runs in their blood that they aren’t jumpers. 🤪

What did you do for your adaptive crib?

🚨 NEW SERIES ALERT

We’re starting with someone who doesn’t play.

Meet Macy Ledet; quadriplegic attorney, disability advocate, Split Second Foundation board member, and mom of two. She just got back from Washington DC representing ALL of us at the Unite 2 Fight Paralysis Symposium and she’s coming on to tell us exactly what’s happening at the government level around SCI, what we need to know, and how to get involved.

This is Episode 1 of Out Here Making Change, the IG Live series where I sit down with people in this community who aren’t waiting for change. They’re at the forefront of it.

📍 LIVE on Wheel With Me Foundation’s IG
📅 Wednesday, April 8th
⏰ 2PM EST

Drop a 🔥 if you’re watching. And if you know someone living with SCI, paralysis, or disability, TAG THEM.

This conversation is for us.
