Are you looking to get away from your computer and get your hands dirty? This is your chance! This course will introduce you to the age-old skill of throwing pottery on the wheel. We will cover everything (most everything) you need to know about how to make a round vessel that can later be used for storage, to drink from or to cook in. In this class we will start by learning the skill of centering the clay on the wheel, the foundation of all wheel throwing. We will then work on raising the walls of the pot to make a basic cylinder. From there we will progress to making other forms such as bowls and rounded vessels, depending on each student’s skill level and desires to learn other forms. Along the way students will also learn about things such as the properties of clays, wedging (de-airing) clay, how to reclaim clay and other tidbits.

This 6-Week Intermediate Pottery Series is designed for potters who are already comfortable centering clay and throwing basic cylinders and bowls and are ready to challenge themselves with more complex forms.

Over six weeks, we’ll work on refining technique, improving precision, and thinking more intentionally about form and surface design. Each project will be demonstrated and you’ll be guided through the process, while still giving you room to experiment and develop your own style.

Projects may include:
• Mugs
• Goblets
• Bird Feeders
• Pie Plates
• Berry Bowls

Whether you’ve never touched a pottery wheel or you’ve been throwing for years, this 6-week pottery series is designed to help you build your skills in a fun, supportive studio.

✨ You’ll learn to create functional pottery like mugs, bowls, plates, and more while exploring trimming, decorating, and glazing techniques. More experienced potters are encouraged to work on personalized projects and continue growing their skills.

What’s included:
🤍 Open studio access 7 days a week
🤍 Up to 25 lbs. of clay
