“I’m here for these Black people,” Humble Lukanga says. “I feel like this whole world is set up for the White families to win, and they have all the access to resources that they need in this lifetime. I'm here to fight for the oppressed, and I’m here to fight for my people.” (Eric Thaye...

When Simone Biles dropped out of her Olympic competitions this week, the whole world took notice. At 24 years old Biles is the most decorated gymnast ever, she's won 36 medals—27 of those are gold. Biles left the women’s gymnastics final at the Tokyo Games because she was afraid she would be injured if she continued in a rattled state of mind. It is not clear whether she will compete in her individual events.

We are sad to hear about the death of Olympic gold medalist, Lee Evans.

During the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Evans won the gold medal in the 400m and became the first person to finish in under 44 seconds. His win came after his teammates raised their fists at the podium and were sent home. The committee warned him against doing the same but continued to demonstrate his support for the burgeoning Black Power Movement by rocking a black beret and putting his fist in the air anyway.

You will always be remembered Mr. Evans.

Olympian Lee Evans, who was a participant during the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, died at a hospital in Nigeria last week.
