DAY TWO: THE CONVERSATIONS CONTINUE. 🔥🏗️

Another full day at the 2026 FIERO Fire Station Design Symposium — bringing fire service leaders, architects, designers and industry experts together around one goal: building better fire stations for the people who depend on them.

Day Two was about digging deeper. Challenging the way things have always been done, sharing lessons learned, asking better questions and exploring solutions that make our stations safer, healthier, more functional and better prepared for the future.

Because great fire station design isn’t just about the building. It’s about understanding the job, the people doing it and how the decisions made today will impact firefighters and communities for decades.

The rooms were full. The conversations were real. And the ideas were flowing.

PRE-CONFERENCE: COMPLETE. NOW, LET’S GET TO WORK. 🚒🏗️

Today at the 2026 FIERO Fire Station Design Symposium, we kicked things off with a full day dedicated to the First Steps of Fire Station Design — building the foundation for smarter decisions long before construction begins.

From figuring out where to start, navigating building codes and standards, choosing the right project delivery method and understanding construction administration, to conducting the right studies, building community support and funding, and selecting the right design professionals — today was about getting the process right from the beginning.

We closed out the day digging into the details that directly impact the firefighters who will ultimately call these stations home: living and sleeping spaces, functionality, and the seemingly small design decisions that can make a major difference for decades to come.

A fire station is one of the biggest investments a department and community will make. Today was about asking better questions before making those decisions.

🔥 And tomorrow, the 2026 FIERO Fire Station Design Symposium officially begins.

More education. More ideas. More conversations. More opportunities to build fire stations that truly work for the people who work inside them.
