What are some of the things that are so unique to our town that a photograph of them instantly says “Charlotte” to someone who knows this town well? A great skyline photo is always worth trying but what are some details that aren’t likely to be seen anywhere else? The more specifically “Charlotte” the better.

A funny sign or poster... something incongruous you've noticed... a situation, an expression, or a juxtaposition of two subjects... the mission this month is to make us laugh. MEETING in RM 250 this month!

A photo might simply recognize the product of a creativite architect, but opportunities abound for the creative photographer. Concentrate on subtle details, choose an angle of light or time of day, find unique ways to fit architectural shapes into our own rectangles, etc. Show us your own take on a structure that inspires you.

I was recently inspired by the Gilded Age grandeur of the Biltmore. Here are some I found interesting, dramatic, funny (“Humor” is our assignment for September), etc. Also, while traveling to Maryland to visit friends we toured the Drum Point Lighthouse, where I was taken by the interior geometries determined by the functional design of this piece of maritime architecture, as well as a few other structures. All these were processed in Lightroom to optimize tonality, exposure, etc.

Of particular interest to photographers selling on eBay, particularly items over $750... reading about this scam is in your best interest. There's also a recommendation for confirming that you've sent the item you advertised.

Buying and selling gear online is convenient in many ways, but sadly, it comes with a risk of various scams. Apparently, the scammers have figured out how to rob you even through eBay, the website
