Today, we proudly pause to recognize Million Youth March of Charlotte Day, officially proclaimed by the City of Charlotte on July 22, 2017.
This historic recognition honors a movement founded in 2013 following the tragic deaths of Davion Funderburk and Inna Gonzalez, along with the many young lives affected by violence throughout our community. For more than 13 years, Million Youth March Of Charlotte & Salisbury, Inc has remained committed to empowering young people, supporting families, promoting positive choices, providing community resources, creating opportunities for youth leadership, and raising awareness against violence.
This proclamation is more than a framed document it is a reminder of our responsibility to continue the work, remain visible, speak up for our youth, and help create safer communities where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
As we acknowledge this special day, we honor those whose lives inspired this movement, thank everyone who has supported our mission, and recommit ourselves to Leading With Love and Standing With Purpose.
