Charlotte city council has not been bold in supporting the residents of Forest Park Mobile Homes. The homeowners requested support from council members in getting to the table with the owner of the park and developers hoping to build 400 market rate apartments where 60 units of deeply naturally occurring affordable housing have been for decades.

Developers did not feel the the need to meet with residents before the rezoning vote.

On December 15th at 5pm If City Council and Charlotte votes yes to the rezoning of forest park mobile homes, they will vote to displace another community and lose 60 units of affordable housing. Where are we replacing 60 units of 4 bed 2 bath homes for $500 a month?

These are two men from mobile home park that physically attacked, punching, pushing, shoving, hitting, peaceful protesters today. They yelled racial slurs and told people to go back to Mexico among other things.

The people at charlotte hills have paid for their homes and don't get their titles, get fined outrageously for having jackets or toys on their porch, get their cars towed consistently, and get threatened by eviction. They are on a month to month lease and they want the protection of a multi year lease that they can negotiate the terms.

The office manager has canceled two meetings last week where the Charlotte hills tenant union has gone to negotiate.
