ACCOVAC Hosts Families

Camp ACCOVAC’s 2026 Family Camp brought Virginia Conference families and leaders together for a joyful time of worship, fellowship and family fun. I was honored to share three chapel messages centered on Jesus as the only one who satisfies — exploring Christ’s care for wandering hearts in Psalm 107, his promise of eternal satisfaction in John 6 and his invitation to all who thirst in John 4....

CANDOR Uses Drivers Ed to Evangelize

The Cabrizoses' recent trip to the Philippines was spent with students and school staff from the Christian Academy in Davao Oriental (CANDOR), which is under the oversight of Agape House Ministries. CANDOR provides Bible-based education to young people. This trip included an element of training as Erwin and Rowena completed workshops required by the Department of Education. On the fun side, they were able to participate in an overnight scouting and camping trip with the elementary students which included a field trip around the city of Mati!...

Friends On Purpose

The Fall ’26 Witness magazine has dropped! Just the other night, I finished 1 Samuel and found myself thinking about what an amazing friend Jonathan was to David. Jonathan, natural heir to King Saul’s throne, befriended a no-name shepherd boy after his surprising public victory over Goliath. You would think Jonathan would feel threatened and territorial. But instead, he made a covenant with David, giving him his own robe and armor....

Evangelism in a Thai Village

THAILAND - Mang, Pohn, Russell, Tee and I are gathered under an open pavilion in a small village community near Naratchakwai. Nearby, two water buffalo are grazing beneath a cement water tower, and our meeting is about to start. This is the third such meeting coordinated by Yai Mang (“Yai,” a term of respect for an older woman), Pohn’s mother....

App Women’s Retreat: For His Glory

On September 18, a light mist hung in the air as roughly 60 women traveled the mountainous curves and hills that led to the Appalachian campground in Blowing Rock, N.C. for a weekend of renewal and refreshment. The rain that brought slightly cooler temperatures was enough to put everyone in fall-mode for the annual Appalachian Women’s Retreat. This year’s theme was “For His Glory: Fashioned, Forged and Fulfilled” and those gathered seemed eager to hear from God’s Word and connect with one another....

Adorning the Gospel With Hospitality

Your church is more attractive than you think. It’s not the music or the new sign out front, though these things certainly help. It’s something more fundamental and easy to overlook: In our increasingly inhospitable world, normal, everyday Christian hospitality looks increasingly radical. And this contrast is attractive. Called to Contrast Just like God separated light from darkness in Genesis 1, he separates his people from the nations: “You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine” (Leviticus 20:26)....

Tabernacle Celebrates 150 Years of Ministry

On September 27, I was privileged to participate in the 150th anniversary celebration of God’s enduring faithfulness to Tabernacle Advent Christian Church in Lenoir, N.C. The Sunday worship service was just one part of a celebration weekend that was months in planning. Saturday, the church hosted a community fun day with bounce houses, yard games, food and live bluegrass music....
