The CMS Board of Education’s Intergovernmental Committee is setting the district’s 2-year legislative agenda—determining what policies and funding they will fight for in Raleigh and Washington, D.C.

As CMAE members, parents, and community allies, our working conditions are our students' learning conditions. We need our collective voices flooding this survey to ensure our public schools get the funding, support, and respect they deserve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for CMAE's Meet After the Meeting: Educators' Debrief.

The afternoon was intentionally designed around four roundtable discussions focused on celebrating what's working in CMS, recruiting and retaining great educators, supporting students, and identifying the conditions needed for success. These conversations created space for educators, community partners, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue and share their experiences.

A special thank you to the community organization representatives who joined us and continue to stand alongside educators and students in support of strong public schools.

The event concluded with a Board of Education Member panel, where members reflected on what was affirmed, what sparked an aha moment, and what they felt challenged or committed to exploring further based on the themes that emerged from our roundtable discussions.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, listened, shared, and engaged. Meaningful conversations build stronger relationships, stronger schools, and a stronger community!

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Association of Educators - CMAE thanks the CMS Board of Education and CMS staff for being intentional and for sharing clear context around the calendar and instructional hours.

We appreciate your support in voting to make May 1 a Teacher Workday (except Early Colleges).

Thank you to our Superintendent for listening, and to Beth Thompson and Angie Wood for providing clear context and rationale. Our community members, familes, etc value the transparency.

Grateful for the many educators who stepped up to organize their schools and worksites! Your leadership matters.
This is not "us vs them." This is all of us standing together and demanding for the public schools our students deserve.
