We have been incredibly blessed and grateful this year for every opportunity to share our mission and serve alongside some truly amazing people. 💚

Our latest experience with was one of those special days.

We came together around something that touches all of us: the importance of human connection. And from the moment we gathered, this team leaned in. They were intentional. They learned, created, served, and connected, with a genuine desire to make a difference.

Together, we planted more than succulents. 💛 We decorated beautiful planters, filled birthday cards with personal wishes, and created a connection banner with heartfelt messages for the residents at The Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore.

The connection created around one table will now travel to another community, reminding people experiencing isolation that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.

But perhaps our favorite part?
The connection didn't end when the event did.
DAVCO employees have already signed up through our program to continue connecting with nursing home residents through volunteer visits. 💚

That's impact.

For us, impact isn't simply how many people attend an event or how many things we create. It's what continues after we leave.

We educate. We equip. We serve. And then we watch connection continue.

DAVCO, thank you for opening your doors and your hearts to this work. We are so grateful, so excited about what we can do together, and we're just getting started. 💚

✨ OCTOBER CONNECTION CHALLENGE OCTOBER 4–10 ✨

Sometimes connection starts with one simple word: Hello. ❤️

This week, our challenge is to MAKE A NEW CONNECTION.

Introduce yourself to a neighbor, coworker, classmate, or someone you regularly see but don’t really know.
👋 Say hello.
😊 Learn their name.
💬 Start a conversation.

Research continues to show that social connection is an important part of our health and well-being. 

Your challenge: Make one new connection this week.

And remember, one small hello can make a difference. You never know who may be feeling isolated or simply needs a moment of human connection. ❤️

Connection is good for us, but sometimes we have to be intentional about creating it.

So this October, Love in Action Project is challenging our community to take small, meaningful steps toward connection.

👋 Introduce yourself to a neighbor you don’t know.
☕ Invite someone to coffee or lunch.
📱 Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while.
💌 Send a card or note letting someone know they matter.
🪑 Invite someone to sit, talk, and simply connect.

It doesn’t have to be big. Small acts of connection can help create something we all need: belonging.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing simple ways to put connection into action.

Love in Action Project Inc is a volunteer-led grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit that combats social isolation and loneliness for those most often forgotten in our community through art and human connection.

Love In Action Project brings people of all ages together to strengthen community, deepen human connection, and educate the public on the importance of social connection. They intentionally bridge that collective connection to neighbors experiencing some of the highest levels of isolation, including nursing home residents, Meals on Wheels recipients, and unhoused neighbors.

Here's what's in store on Sunday, October 18th, from 1pm to 4pm, during our 5th Annual Charlotte Chalk Art Festival at NoDa Brewing:

➡️ Create a handmade “Thinking of You This Fall” card for a local nursing home resident.
➡️ Write a personal birthday message inside a professionally printed Shutterfly birthday card for nursing home residents.
➡️ Help bring an 8' × 6' Community Connection Wall to life by contributing art and creativity to a shared visual expression of connection, hope, belonging, and community.
➡️ Add artwork and personal messages to a 6' × 2' fall-themed Community Connection Banner that will be delivered to a local nursing home community.

❤️ Cynthia felt our heart. And that means everything.

We can talk about what we do, why we do it, and the research behind the importance of social connection. But there’s something special about hearing from someone who experienced it firsthand.

After participating in a Corporate Signature Connection Party with her colleagues, Cynthia shared something that stayed with us:
“They care about the community, and they really love you guys.” ❤️
That’s what we hope people feel when they come alongside us. It’s more than completing a service project. It’s about connection, belonging, learning, and strengthening community together.

She felt our heart. ❤️ Now we invite you to experience it for yourself.

YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️
Beautiful hand-painted flower pots filled with little succulents and a colorful community connection banner found their way to our neighbors at Brookdale Senior Living South Charlotte, carrying a message much bigger than the pots they came in: You are seen. You are loved. You are important.

The National Institute on Aging shares that 1 in 4 adults age 65 and older are socially isolated. 
That is why moments like this matter to us.

We believe everyone deserves to feel connected to their community. Through art and human connection, we bring people together to create with purpose, then carry that love to neighbors who may experience some of the greatest barriers to connection.

Every pot says, someone was thinking of you. Every brushstroke says, you matter. And this beautiful banner says it best:

At the end of the party, we asked everyone to describe the experience in one word. One word kept coming up: healing. ❤️

That stayed with us. Because our Signature Connection Card Party is about so much more than making cards.

One of the Connection questions we asked that day was: “What would you like more of in your life this season?”

It sounds like a simple question.
But when people feel safe, something beautiful happens. They share. They listen. They learn more about one another.

So we created space.
Space to pause.
Space to reflect.
Space to share.
Space to listen.
Space to be heard.

Because when people feel safe, they share. And when people share, we have an opportunity to truly see one another.

As you’ll see in this video, the conversation went deeper. People who already knew one another discovered things they had never known. Conversations moved beyond the surface. People listened differently, supported one another, and connected in new ways.

That’s what makes our parties different.
The cards matter. The art matters. The service matters. And so does what happens around the table.

Whether we’re sitting intimately with 5 people or facilitating a corporate Connection Card Party with 100+ participants, our intention remains the same: Create a space where people have the opportunity to leave feeling more seen and more connected than when they arrived.

The art brings us to the table.
The service gives us shared purpose.
And around the table, connection happens.

🎶 Do you remember... the 21st night of September? 🎶

Today seemed like the perfect day to celebrate community.

These photos were taken at our recent Connection event with Moody's Charlotte team, where a few members of the team came together to serve and create connections. While not everyone is pictured, these moments represent something much bigger.

For 16 years, we have been blessed by an incredible community of volunteers, donors, sponsors, board members, community partners, and supporters who have helped us educate others about the importance of social connection and the impact of loneliness and isolation.

Every event, every card made, every conversation shared, and every act of kindness is possible because of people like you.

Today, we’re grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey. Thank you for showing up, believing in our mission, and helping us create a more connected community, one relationship at a time. ❤️

1 in 2 people experience loneliness. That’s why social connection matters.

This week, we partnered with Moody's Charlotte office for a Corporate Social Responsibility event focused on educating employees about social isolation and loneliness while empowering them to become part of the solution.

Through education, discussion, and service, participants gained a deeper understanding of the impact of social isolation and explored how each of us can help create more connected and inclusive communities.

Employees then engaged in 5️⃣ interactive service stations, painting flower pots, planting succulents, creating a community connection banner, packing “love bags” hygiene kits, and making birthday cards for individuals who are most overlooked and disconnected from community.

We delivered the completed projects to residents at Brookdale Senior Living in South Charlotte and to our unhoused neighbors throughout the Charlotte community.

This was our third opportunity to partner with Moody’s, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to community engagement and social impact.

Through education, engagement, and meaningful acts of service, we bring people together to strengthen community, foster belonging, and ensure those who are most forgotten remain connected and valued.

Because everyone matters. Everyone belongs. Everyone deserves a seat at the table. 💚
