Kathryn Jeanne Phillips ( Kathryn Jeanne Studio | Textile & Fiber Art ) is a fiber artist, textile designer, and garment maker whose work bridges the worlds of fashion, fine art, and storytelling. With more than three decades of experience as a Textile Designer, Creative Director, and Chief Curator, she has spent her career immersed in the rich history of pattern, color, and craftsmanship. A graduate of the University of Connecticut with an MFA in Costume Design, Kathryn’s background in theatrical storytelling continues to influence her work, bringing narrative and character to every creation. Whether designing fiber art for the wall or constructing wearable art for the runway, she approaches each piece as an opportunity to reimagine materials and uncover unexpected beauty. Her original fiber artwork and wearable creations invite viewers to experience textiles not simply as fabric, but as a powerful form of artistic expression.

We’re excited to have Kathy back designing with Hannah McKee’s ( Hannah Mckee )artist vinyl and 2026 Cohort Artist, Amelia Haussmann ( Amellia Hausmann )gracing the runway.

2026 Cohort Artist, ( Dimeji Onafuwa )Dimeji Onafuwa’s art is now prominently featured in Mayor Harrington’s office. Charlotte’s new Mayor selected Dimeji’s painting, Goje, to hang in his direct line of sight.

Influenced by Henry Ossawa Tanner’s Banjo Lesson, Goje is an intimate portrait of a father and son learning to play the Goje, an ancient West African stringed instrument regarded by some as one of the banjo’s earliest ancestors. The painting is a meditation on parental love, cultural inheritance, and the act of passing knowledge from one generation to the next.

Congratulations to Dimeji on this recognition, and thank you to Mayor Harrington for supporting Charlotte’s creative community. We’re excited to welcome a leader to City of Charlotte who recognizes that art is an essential part of a thriving, connected community.

Introducing Ashton Allen (Ashton Allen ) Charlotte-based womenswear and menswear designer specializing in sustainable textiles embracing slow fashion made with intention for good quality and tailoring. With a playful yet refined design perspective, he creates thoughtfully tailored garments that embrace personal expression. He graduated with a BSBA from Appalachian State University in 2025. Ashton believes that fashion embraces individuality, allowing people to express themselves in a refined and intentional way while minimizing environmental impact.

This will be Ashton’s first time designing for the ArtPop runway, and has selected Caroline Greb ‘s billboard vinyl to refashion.

The initiative celebrates the diversity, creativity, and contemporary voices shaping American culture today, introducing a new generation of artists to audiences at a truly global scale.
