Next up for , we have a new designer to ArtPop, Ashton Allen Ashton Allen and Model Rose Talent Angelique . A Charlotte-based women’s and menswear designer specializing in sustainable textiles embracing slow fashion made with intention for good quality and tailoring. Ashton’s designs allow people to express themselves in a refined and intentional way while minimizing environmental impact.

Inspired by the orchid’s duality of strength and elegance, this avant-garde mermaid gown is a masterclass in structural artistry modeled by Rose Talent.

The sculpted corset ingeniously integrates fine-china imagery from Caroline Greb’s (Caroline Greb )billboard artwork, beautifully balanced by dramatic leaf-like hip peplums. A breathtaking, oversized bloom envelops the garment, culminating in an unforgettable, high-drama silhouette.
 Thank you, Ashton, for joining Upcycled this year and sharing your creation. Its expert balance of hard and soft, reminds us we can be both strong and delicate!

The 6th Annual Upcycled Fashion Show was the biggest yet! Experience the Runway from Sept 12; All the details, all the models. From the Wonderland VIP Hour to the incredible Carolina Dance Academy performance, to the 14 Designers whose impeccable fashion made from Billboard vinyl set the bar high for what Charlotte Fashion truly is.

“What a fun visit I had with Kenna. We lost all track of time and I was there almost 3 hours. What a sweetheart! We had many parallel stories and interests and we learned so much about each other!”

Andy was a part of the 2023 Artist Cohort, and became a volunteer mentor this year.

One of the supporting benefits offered to our Artist Cohort members is Alumni Mentorship - a direct connection between them and an artist from a past program year. Our alumni artists offer guidance, resources, and companionship to further connect them within the community. Most importantly it’s Artists Championing One Another!

continues with our first main stage designer. We were grateful to feature Artist Virgil Ortiz , our visiting Guest Designer from Santa Fe, NM. Blending indigenous ancestral memory with a future-facing aesthetic, Virgil stands at the forefront of contemporary art and design.

Created from Teresa Dunlap’s (Native American Pottery, Basketry, and Embroidery ), Catawba Pottery billboard vinyl, Virgil’s runway design “The Storm Sentinel” stands at the threshold of chaos—silent, unshaken, precise. Drew Taylor, his model embodied the vision.

Inspired by his character from ReVolt 1680/2180, this garment embodies strength, resistance, and ancestral memory. Cut from reclaimed billboard vinyl, the fabric carries its own weathered and sun-worn history, now transformed into armor.

Thank you, Virgil, for inspiring a new generation to see art as rebellion, resistance, and survival, blazing a path where culture collides with imagination, and the future is unbound. What a great start to our 6th Annual Upcycled Fashion Show!

Introducing Angela Lubinecky ( L O L A N G I ART - Angela Lubinecky ) 1 of the 24 artists in the 2026 Artist Cohort

Born to a German and Spanish family, Angela spent her childhood immersed in a spirit of adventure when her parents relocated us to East Africa. She was raised within a vibrant, multicultural expatriate community across Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya. Experiences that would profoundly shape her perspective and influence her art. After graduating from the German School in Nairobi, her path led her across continents - from France to England and eventually to Los Angeles. She earned a BA degree in World Arts and Cultures from UCLA. Angela’s journey since has been anything but linear, ultimately bringing her family and herself to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sept 12th the Upcycled Fashion Show VIP Hour attendees were treated to a special Wonderland experience. Guests stepped through the looking glass and into a world built by imagination, creativity, and a little bit of magic.

The show opened with a moving spoken word by Dasia 🦋 who primed the audience for magic. ArtPop Team Member Vanessa Ross (Vanessa ) took the stage as Alice inviting the guests down the rabbit hole to meet the cast of characters.
4 veteran Upcycled Designers shared their fantastical Wonderland creations, bringing each to life on the runway. Guests were invited afterwards to meet the designers and models and learn more about their work. Each designer also contributed something truly special that uniquely put their stamp on the production.

Jamie designed and crafted vinyl boutonniere flowers as gifts for the guests.

Alexander Lieberman AWL Implements -The Caterpillar with model Rahquelah Conyers Rahquelah Clemeenah Conyers
Alexander created a magical original film played to set the stage and provide designer/ model credits.

Anise masterminded the beautiful table gifts for the guests.

Will White Will White -The Red Queen with model Jashanta Brown Jashanta
Will turned the lounge area into Wonderland! The whimsical photo ops and displays were all his design and effort that provided the perfect backdrop and transported the guests.

These 4 designers, among others, have traveled with us from our humble beginnings and have presented their work at all of our venues. They have returned year after year to transform the unexpected into extraordinary works of wearable art, and establish The Upcycled Fashion Show as a serious stage for serious fashion talent.

Thank you to the designers who remind us what can happen when we follow our imagination, and dare to see the world a little differently.
