Did you know? You may have a charitable giving tool at your fingertips. A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that lets you set aside money for future gifts to nonprofits.

❓What’s a DAF?
A Donor Advised Fund is a charitable account. If you have one, you already gave your money away. Now it needs a destination.

1️⃣ — Log in to your fund
This is your DAF sponsor’s, or wealth manager’s, portal.
2️⃣ — Recommend a grant
Search for your favorite Charlotte nonprofit and name your amount. Two minutes, no checkbook.
3️⃣ — Tell us it’s you
Include your name so we can say thank you. Grants sometimes arrive anonymous.

❓Who has a DAF?
DAFs are used by individuals, families, and organizations who want to set aside charitable dollars and make thoughtful gifts over time. You might have a DAF through a community foundation, financial institution, or other charitable organization.

📣 The 2026–27 Women’s Impact Fund grants cycle is officially OPEN! 📣
We’re excited to invite eligible nonprofit organizations serving Mecklenburg County to apply for unrestricted funding—meaning there are no restrictions on how grant funds must be used once awarded.
Who can apply? Organizations must:
• Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
• Be located in or serve Mecklenburg County
• Meet WIF’s additional grant requirements, outlined on our website

The people who pour into our communities need care, too.

When Juliana Lozano, founder and Executive Director of Despierta, received a 2025 WIF Spark Award, she was balancing full-time work, motherhood, and growing the organization she founded. She used her award to invest in her mental and physical well-being—and to rediscover something that brought her joy: travel.

“The Spark Award gave me an opportunity to ask myself, ‘What do I need?’”

For Juliana, that meant making space for herself after spending so much time investing in everyone else. And the impact has lasted far beyond the award itself.
