SCJJ Fathers Represent at National Fathers Auxiliary Gathering in Louisville
Last week, the South Charlotte Jack and Jill Fathers Auxiliary represented our chapter at the National Fathers Auxiliary Trip in Louisville, Kentucky, joining nearly 65 fathers from across the country for a weekend of fellowship, leadership, and brotherhood.
Representing South Charlotte were Fathers Auxiliary Chair Alex Delpleche, along with Eric West, Ashaunte McLean, Shawn Capers, and Mike Brown. The group connected with fathers nationwide, strengthening relationships and sharing ideas around engaged fatherhood.
Highlights included meeting Lonnie Ali and visiting the Muhammad Ali Center, where they explored the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali. The fathers also learned about the powerful history of Black jockeys in horse racing—15 of the first 28 Kentucky Derby winners were Black, including legendary jockey Isaac Murphy.
The trip also provided opportunities for fellowship through cultural tours, including visits to several of Kentucky’s historic whiskey distilleries, and time connecting with national leadership.
The experience was a meaningful reminder of the power of brotherhood, leadership, and intentional fatherhood.
