"I love my autistic sibling... but I'm exhausted."

Translation:

I love them.
I'd defend them.
I'd fight anybody who talks about them.

But I don't always love:
• The random screaming
• The 47th replay of the same song
• Being promoted to snack support, tech support, and emotional support before I'm even old enough to drive

The truth is, siblings can experience love, pride, frustration, worry, and exhaustion all at the same time.

And sometimes the bravest thing they can say is:

🗣️ "I love my sibling... and this is hard."

Because loving your sibling and needing a break are not opposites.

They're real life.

Not everyone will understand your autism journey, and that's okay.

You don't need everyone's approval to advocate for your child. Keep learning, keep showing up, and keep trusting what works for your family.

What's something you wish others understood about autism? 👇🏾

As we close out Autism Awareness Month, we want to center a conversation that is often overlooked siblings. At Let’s Talk About It – The Autism Center, we believe supporting a child with autism means supporting the entire family.

Siblings are navigating this journey too often quietly, and often without the space to process their own experiences. Through our new program, Siblings Speak, we are creating space for siblings to be seen, heard, and supported.

🎥 Watch the clip below from our SEED20 pitch to learn more about why this work matters. When we support the whole family, we strengthen the outcome for everyone.

💙 We are “keeping autism on the table and in the conversation”.

🌼 Caregiver Tip for the New Year:
“Progress doesn’t have to be perfect.”

New years often come with pressure, new routines, new goals, new expectations. Remember: growth happens in small, steady steps, not overnight changes.

Celebrate what works. Adjust what doesn’t. Give yourself grace along the way. 💙

✨ As we close one year and step into the next…

We’re reminded that autism advocacy doesn’t reset on January 1, it continues every day through education, understanding, and community support.

In the year ahead, Let’s Talk About It – The Autism Center remains committed to empowering individuals with autism, supporting caregivers, and shifting conversations toward capability, inclusion, and opportunity. 💙

Here’s to another year of learning, growth, and meaningful impact together.
