Today is Indigenous People's Day, a day to recognize the history and uplift the voices and experiences of indigenous people.

Wondering how you can celebrate respectfully? Here are a few ideas:

Today is National Coming Out Day, a day dedicated to supporting those who are "coming out of the closet."

Coming out, sharing with others who you are, or inviting others in to learn more about you, can be hard. It can be scary. For some, it can be unsafe. Creating a world in which people can be themselves without worry or fear, is one reason to celebrate today. If homophobia and transphobia thrive in silence, isolation, and ignorance, then coming out, sharing with community, and education can combat it. 🏳️‍🌈♥️🏳️‍⚧️

Last night reminded us exactly why our work at Charlotte Pride matters so much. 🏳️‍🌈✨

It was an honor to gather with our sponsors, community partners, and regional leaders to celebrate the massive success of our 26th Annual Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade and look ahead to our next chapter.

A special thank you to City Council Member Dimple Ajmera and Arts & Science Council President Adam Santalla Pierce for sharing your voices. Adam, your call to action around continuing to invest in local arts and culture deeply resonated with us, especially as we look at the infrastructure needed to support our growing community.

While we aren't ready to reveal everything just yet, our teams are officially working on three major strategic shifts for Charlotte Pride 2027:
☀️ A Dedicated June Event for Families: We are planning to transition our Youth & Family activation into its own standalone event during national Pride Month in June to create a more intentional, tailored experience.
📍 A Return to Tryon Street: We are designing an expanded festival footprint aimed at anchoring our core activations back along Uptown Charlotte’s central corridor.
🌙 A Historic Twilight Timeline: We are actively planning a shift to our first-ever twilight-to-evening parade! The proposed schedule will transition from late-afternoon light into a spectacular, illuminated night-time finale through the heart of the city.
🔄 Bringing Back the Classics: Alongside these new expansions, we are also working on plans to bring back several beloved, community-favorite events from our past.

Expanding our footprint and reimagining our calendar takes incredible teamwork, resources, and vision. We are deeply grateful to the corporate sponsors, volunteers, city services, and community members who invest in this work year after year.

Charlotte Pride is about more than one weekend. It’s about creating a city where everyone has a place. Thank you for helping us build that future.

This month, we celebrate and recognize the achievements and legacies of the LGBTQ+ people that came before us, and the ones making positive changes today that will be felt for years to come.
