This past fiscal year, 7,000 unique volunteers showed up for Habitat Charlotte Region — logging more than 100,000 volunteer hours on our build sites, in our ReStores, and at our office, helping make affordable homeownership a reality. 🏠🔨

What an incredible year of hammering, sorting, and problem-solving — all in service of building strength, stability, and homes for local families.

Huge thanks to our faithful, hardworking volunteers who kept showing up day after day, hour after hour this year — including our friends from Mecklenburg Community Church (pictured) — and to everyone who helps make this mission possible. We couldn't do it without you.

On Saturday, we celebrated Habitat for Humanity's 50th Birthday with Lowe's Home Improvement, bringing together families, volunteers, and community members for hands-on fun, community engagement, and a shared commitment to affordable housing.

Every nail, every stud, every header — it all goes into making a house. But what goes into making a house a home?

We're biased, but we'd say it's the people.

And one of our favorite traditions is to leave notes and well-wishes on the home's studs to provide blessings for the family that will call it home — literally putting love into every home we build.

Last week, we were grateful to gather in Davidson at the site of the future Shearer Street triplex for a stud signing — not just with all of those who helped make this possible, but with one of the future homeowners herself, Tavonna, and her sons.

Thank you to our partners, including the Town of Davidson, NC, Davidson Community Foundation, and Peninsula Community Foundation, for helping provide opportunities for homeownership for families like Tavonna's.

There's a gap between families with reliable technology and families without — and it affects everything from job searches to homework help.💻

Last week, over 60 Critical Home Repair and New Home homeowners received laptops from E2D (E2D - Eliminate the Digital Divide) — plus hands-on setup support from CDE (Center for Digital Equity - CDE), so everyone left ready to actually use them.

From job applications to healthcare access to helping kids with schoolwork, reliable technology isn't a luxury — it's essential.

We're grateful to E2D and CDE, partners since 2019, for helping close the digital divide for the families we serve.

For families like Tarba's, home maintenance you can't keep up with isn't just a to-do list — it becomes a source of real anxiety and stress.

"It affected my health; I wasn't sleeping. I became ill," Tarba shared.

Through our Critical Home Repair Program, we're able to step in before small problems become big ones — helping keep families safe, healthy, and home.

None of this happens without partners who show up for our neighbors. We're immensely grateful for the support from Wells Fargo and others who help families like Tarba's sleep better through the night. 🏡

Affordable housing is on the ballot this November. Will you make your voice heard? 🗳️🏠

In the Charlotte region, a worker needs to earn about $35/hour just to comfortably afford a modest two-bedroom rental. Meanwhile, NC's minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 since 2009.

This November, North Carolina voters won't just be electing representatives — they'll decide on:
🏠 A $125 million Charlotte Housing Bond to build and preserve affordable homes
📋 Three constitutional amendments that could reshape property taxes and state revenue for years to come
🗳️ Races up and down the ballot that touch housing policy at every level

Affordable housing doesn't happen by accident — it's shaped by the decisions voters make. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Sometimes, you have to break things down to build something better. 🔨

Through our Critical Home Repair program, homeowners get a fresh start — with increased accessibility, safety, and comfort in the homes they already love.

While our construction team leads the way as the repair experts, we're always grateful for the support of our loyal volunteer crews. Pictured here are members of Dudley's Crew, one of our regular volunteer teams, lending their hands to a recent project.

We're grateful for their support and for the generosity of Providence Presbyterian Church in making these repairs possible! Partnerships like this are what allow us to help even more neighbors stay safely in their homes.
