GATSBY AUTOWORX TOUR & LUNCH - JUNE 27, 2026
LIBERTY, NC
We have a really nice activity planned for you to enjoy. Saturday, June 27 will be the date we tour Gatsby Autoworx, in Liberty, 4764 Cobb Road, just outside of Burlington. We will meet at 11 am and likely be finished with the tour by 1:30 pm. You won't want to miss it. I hope you will be able to join us for the tour and for a wonderful lunch, all provided by our friends at Gatsby Autoworx.

My particular thanks to John Farrall and our CCCA friends for inviting us to join them for this fantastic event.

Please RSVP no later than June 20. Drop me an email reply or if you would like, give me a call.

Thank you!
Regards,
Travis

From our CLC Carolina Region visit of Andrew Straw's unique car collection in Hickory NC this past Saturday, here are some pictures of a car that stood out to me, a 1964 GAZ VOLGA SOVIET UNION LUXURY CAR, often use by the KGB and the very wealthy. Me being all into the 1963/64's I was really interested in the Soviet Union luxury offering from the same time period.

THE FIRST TWO THINGS I thought when I saw this car was that it looked like a Russian/Soviet Car and it must be from early to mid 1950's. I was correct on the first account and very wrong on the 2nd account as it was a 1964 model. The styling did go back into the 1950's when the car was introduced in 1956 but very little was changed in the next decade ... unlike say the Cadillac that drastically changed year to year! It was also a more utilitarian car with the small 75 hp 2.4 liter 4-cylinder compared to the big 429 (7L) V8 used in the 1964 Cadillac!

CHECK OUT THE INFO CARD for more details and look at Marty Smith's 1964 Fleetwood 60 Special to contrast to a Cadillac Luxury car in the 3rd picture.
