Discussion Topic: How Can We Be Pleasing In God’s Sight? And 1 John 3:22

Happy Friday SOE 777 and Supporting Community? Today’s topic deals with the subject of how we can be pleasing to God? 1 John 3:22 tells us “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” There are several ways to please God. Having mustard seed faith pleases God. Being spiritually minded is pleasing in God’s sight. Fearing God is pleasing to him. Aspiring to be more like Jesus Christ is pleasing in his sight. Obedience to God pleases him. Doing God’s will is pleasing in his sight. Lastly, giving God the sacrifice that he wants from us is pleasing in God’s sight. So, as we go into the weekend, let’s ask ourselves, are we pleasing in God’s sight? Stay safe and may God continue to bless you!

Discussion Topic: What Will Be Your Legacy? And 1 Timothy 6:6-7

Happy Thursday Tribe of SOE 777 and Supporting Community! Today’s Food for Thought centers around this question, what will be your legacy that you leave behind? 1 Timothy 6:6-7 states, “but godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” Yet, we will leave a legacy behind us and the importance of this is that each of us should do a self-inventory to determine if we are on the right track. In other words, will we leave the right legacy (one of loving kindness, humility, loyalty, selflessness, service to God and the community, great work ethic, role model etc.) and what will people say about us when we are gone? At first when we say legacy, what usually comes to mind are material things. Although that too is part of our legacy, it’s not the most important part. When we leave from here, will people say that we were always supportive and selfless? Will that say that we had a profound impact on their lives and the community? Will they say that we radiated with the light of God every time that they encountered us? Lastly, if we do a self-inventory and find that we are not on the right track to leave the right legacy, we need to quickly course correct because tomorrow is not promised. So, let’s aim to leave a legacy behind that is worthy of praise! Stay blessed!

Discussion Topic: Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities and Matthew 17:20

Happy Hump Day SOE 777 and Supporting Community! In life, we all encounter obstacles and there are times that it seems like there is no way around them. Adversity not only builds character but it makes us appreciate our victories even more. Yet, if we heed what Matthew 17:20 states, “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” then we understand that all we need to do is shift our mindset and turn our obstacles into opportunities. There are multiple ways to turn obstacles into opportunities. Perceive obstacles as merely a detour to your final goal. Focus on what you can do. We can’t always control events, but we can control our attitude. Yet, above all, follow the guidance of Matthew and display the faith of a mustard seed because through faith and our reliance of God, nothing is impossible. Be blessed!

Discussion Topic: The Love of Family and 1 Peter 4:8-10

Happy Tuesday, Tribe of SOE 777 and Supporting Community! This week, I have been visiting with family in Dallas, Texas and it has been a blast! What I enjoy most about being with family is that not only is the love of family unconditional but the energy and the passionate conversation at family gatherings are quite entertaining as well. When we look at what the bible says about family, 1 Peter 4:8-10 says, "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." This biblical passage tells us to fellowship with one another with love, be hospitable without complaining, and share our gifts by ministering to one another. There is power in a unified family that operates out of love and that supports on another. So, as we continue through this week, let's remember to show love and hospitality to our family and cherish every moment with them! Stay safe and blessed!

Discussion Topic: Phillipians 4:19 and Wait on God!

Happy Monday Tribe of SOE 777! It’s the start of a new week and as we prepare to have a productive week, let’s remember what Phillipians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” There is nothing that God will not supply for us if it is indeed what we need. So, as we go into this week, let’s go into it with the satisfaction of knowing that we serve a God who is willing and able to give us everything that is required for us to progress forward and he can provide it in abundance, which also means that we can be a blessing to others. All we have to do is believe and trust the process! Be safe and remember to trust and wait on God!

Discussion Topic: It’s Grateful Friday and Let’s Be Cheerful Givers!

Hello Tribe of SOE 777 and Supporting Community! It’s Friday and as we look towards having a productive weekend, let’s once again focus on things that we are grateful for. As I reflect on my own gratitude, what immediately comes to mind is the news that I just received regarding 5 of my cousins who are hospitalized and battling COVID 19 as a result of a family gathering. Thank God that they are doing better with each passing day and our family is indeed grateful for that. Another area of gratitude for me is my relationship with God. “If it had not been for the Lord on my side, where would I be?, he kept my enemies away, he let the sun shine through a cloudy day, oh, he wrapped me in the cradle of his arms”, says it all! I cannot imagine where I would be if it had not been for the protection and mercy of the Lord. Just thinking about it makes me want to get up and shout! I am sure that many of us can relate to this sentiment as well.

Yet, above all, I am grateful for the desire and ability to be of service in both our community and in spreading the gospel of Jesus. It’s an honor and a privilege to be of service and to be a blessing to others. Yesterday, I posted a food drive fundraiser that allows me and everyone who wants to be of service an opportunity to do just that (https://www.giveffect.com/campaigns/16679-sisters-of-essence-777-stomping-out-hunger-one-step-at-a-time?fbclid=IwAR2ln8j0va-js-uXgqoR6eFnUHTq3HqVavZ_Tb_9KOQ0Ov5nG8qRw7If_yo). Acts 20:35 states, “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” So, let’s work together to be a cheerful giver and to do it with expressed gratitude for having the privilege to serve our community. Stay blessed everyone!
