Have I got a deal for you who live in Charlotte. This is a win-win for us and you. For the second year, we are participating in the annual Belk Charity Sale on April 30th. Between now and then, we are selling $5 tickets that can be used against any purchase made the day of the sale. All ticket money stays with Gladys House. The ticket sales will help us pay our rent for May and the utility bills. If you don't want to buy a ticket, you can make a tax-deductible donation to Gladys House of any amount to help us keep the work going. You can put the money in my hand, mail it or go to our website and donate using PayPal. 👠👔👖👗👟👒

Carrie Johnson Pegues is the Founder and CEO of Gladys House. Gladys House is not a place for young women who are content to maintain the status quo, but rather a place designed to offer a second chance and a safe place from which to pursue it. Many have asked me over the past 3 years why we don't apply for government grants to support Gladys House. We would certainly qualify for them but I believe that the spiritual values of our organization conflict with the restrictions of the government when taking their money. The federal law requires the following: "Provides no religious instruction or counseling, conduct no religious worship or services, engage in no religious proselytizing or exert no other religious influence in the provision of shelter and other eligible program activities."
How can we, a Christian organization, allow a young woman who is homeless, alone and has lost her way, come in to abide and eat with us and not share with her the hope of Jesus! I believe with all my heart we have been called to obey God and leave the consequences to Him. So my friend, will you make a commitment to support us in our work? We can't do it without you.
