WHERE IT ALL STARTED…

As we continue our Give 828 countdown, I wanted to take y’all back to the beginning of Lisha’s Helping Hands.

When we first started, we were a community outreach organization. If there was a need and we had a way to help, we showed up.

We served our homeless community through care packages, clothing and blanket drives, food donations, and other necessities.

We also hosted community baby showers for new and expecting moms providing diapers, wipes, baby items, resources, vendors, and a day of celebration.

We partnered with organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, bringing youth and community members together to create and donate items for children and families. We also supported smaller local organizations and their community efforts.

Eventually, we realized we wanted to pour even more into OUR YOUTH.💚

That’s when our Youth Day celebrations began bringing together youth, families, performers, vendors, food trucks, community organizations, and more!

Looking back, I realize the mission was always there:

Community. Giving. Opportunity.

Our focus simply became more intentional.

Today, Lisha’s Helping Hands is centered around youth development, leadership development, community giving, and meaningful experiences for young people.

But we’ll always remember where we came from.

It all started with one simple question:

“How can we help?”

And we’re still answering that question today.

GIVE 828 IS THIS FRIDAY! 🖤✨

Have you heard about Give 828?

It’s a day created to shine a light on and support Black-led organizations making an impact in their communities and this year, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk a little more about Lisha’s Helping Hands.

Although we’re not officially registered as a Give 828 participant this year. We want to recognize the importance of the day and use the momentum surrounding it to encourage giving and support for the work we’re doing.

So between now and Friday, we’ll be sharing a little more about who we are, the work we’re doing, and the impact we’re working to create.

Lisha’s Helping Hands exists to serve, empower, and create opportunities for children, youth, and families in our community. From youth programming and leadership development to community giving and creating meaningful experiences for our young people, we’re committed to doing the work not just talking about it.

If you’ve ever watched what we’re doing and thought, “I want to support this,” this is the perfect opportunity.

As we approach Give 828, we’re also ramping up our own fundraising efforts to help us continue growing and serving our community.

Friday is Give 828. We may not be officially registered this year, but we absolutely believe in the spirit behind it: supporting Black-led organizations and investing in the communities they serve.

So I’m using this week to invite you to learn about us, share our work, and if you’re able, give.

As we prepare for our last day of camp, we’re soaking up these final moments together.

As we get ready to wrap up another unforgettable summer soon, our hearts are especially full for our Sunshine Cove campers. 💛

Thank you to every family who trusted us with your incredible children. Watching them grow in confidence and communication, build friendships, try new things, and celebrate even the smallest victories has been one of the greatest blessings of our summer.

It was also beautiful to watch our campers learn from one another, build genuine connections, and create an environment where everyone belonged. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your child’s journey. We’ll cherish these memories for a long time.

Olympic Week has been full of obstacle courses, exciting games, teamwork, and of course... ice cream! 🍦🏅

1 Corinthians 9:24 reminds us:

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to obtain it.”

This week our campers learned that life isn’t just about being the fastest or the strongest. It’s about running the race God has set before us with perseverance, integrity, and faith. Every challenge, every cheer, and every finish line was an opportunity to encourage one another and remember that our greatest prize is found in Christ!

What a fun week of growing stronger in both body and faith!
