Neighbors. It is imperative that YOU get involved and follow these issues through and through. Attending one meeting isn't enough since these things take time and change shape quickly unless you are there along the way to mold it to your liking.Don't rely on your neighbors to be there to voice your concerns:

Hello neighbors,

ACTION NEEDED!!

If you haven't been keeping tabs, there may be some major improvements in the works by the City of Charlotte on the horizon that could dramatically affect the livability of our community.

The Monroe Road Streetscape is a real thing, and the City is seeking our input. We need our neighborhood to "Show Up" and tell City planners what we'd like to see on the ground right here around us and Tuesday June 23 is the perfect opportunity.

The City is hosting an open session for our neighborhood to drop in and give feedback on the ped/bike plan and land acquisitions in our area. Please come by Ovens Auditorium anytime between 5pm and 7pm tonight to give your input.

The time requirement is minimal, please come make your voice heard!

For more information please visit the website:

Look forward to seeing you tonight
!

This program will implement the Independence Boulevard Area Plan by providing pedestrian sidewalk and bicycle improvements throughout the Independence Boulevard Corridor to enhance neighborhood mobility and accessibility to transit and various uses within the corridor.

Mark your calendars. It's very important that we stay involved in these public input sessions.

Neighbors,

City officials are recommending the tree bands be removed now. This is earlier than previous years due to the discovery of a beetle that may act as a beneficial natural predator. This beetle could greatly impact future canker worm populations.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article14714066.html

To remove bands:
-get some disposable gloves, box cutter, knife, scissors (clean with acetone afterwards), trash bags, pliers.
-Cut the band, roll it sticky side in, toss in bag. Use pliers to remove any staples, done! Again, clean sharps with acetone.

Thanks!

The city of Charlotte is advising residents to remove the bands on willow oak trees now, rather than waiting until mid-April as had been previously recommended.
