Life for Lila

Life for Lila “Life for Lila” is our way of going beyond treating her symptoms and helping find a cure. Lila was born on October 26, 2007; the youngest of 3.

With UMDF leading the charge to find a cure we believe children with Mitochondrial Disease will someday avoid having to deal with the challenges Lila faces. Not long after she was born, it was realized that Lila would face many challenges that most other children would not. After seeing many different specialists and going through various test, she was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease, Complex

Lila has been having an uptick in seizure activity and had a grand mal seizure on Sunday. She hasnt had a seizure that bad in 9 years. Luckily she has a prescheduled 48 hour EEG that started today. As you can tell by the picture, nothing will crush her spirit (although she wants the new headwear off immediately 😎). We are prayerfully hoping this test provides Lila’s medical team direction on what is causing the seizures so we can treat her properly… and ditch the new “street cred” attire.
