A heartfelt thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for sponsoring this year's Bloom Into Action: Ladies First 🌸

We are grateful for Blue Cross NC continued commitment to building healthier, stronger communities across North Carolina. Their purpose-driven work to address the state's most pressing health challenges and create long-term, sustainable change aligns deeply with SOL Nation's vision of thriving, sovereign communities.

This partnership is especially meaningful because it builds on a relationship that began in 2023, when BCBSNC partnered with SOL Nation to support community-centered solutions and advance health equity. Together, we share a belief that lasting change happens when communities are empowered with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Join us as we celebrate culture, community, and the women creating pathways for change.

We are proud to honor Kika’s House with this year’s Initiative/Organization Impact Award at Bloom Into Action: Ladies First 💅🏾

Born from lived experience and a deep commitment to community transformation, Kika’s House exists to break generational cycles and build a future where healing, health, and economic freedom are a birthright — not a privilege.

Founded from the realities faced in West Charlotte, Kika’s House is rooted in fighting back against the health and wealth disparities that continue to impact Black communities. Through boxing, financial education, mentorship, and community empowerment, they are creating pathways for healing, discipline, resilience, and long-term change.

Their work reflects the spirit of this year’s Ladies First theme — honoring those who step into difficult conditions, restore what has been neglected, and help communities thrive.

Black music has always been more than sound. It has been memory, resistance, celebration, storytelling, innovation, and survival. Across generations, Black artists have shaped the rhythms that move cultures around the world while creating space for joy, healing, expression, and collective connection. From gospel and jazz to hip-hop, house, R&B, soul, blues, and beyond, Black music continues to carry the spirit of community and creativity forward.

This Black Music Month, we honor the artists, creators, organizers, and communities who have used music as a tool for liberation, reflection, and transformation. Music has long been a way for people to process grief, protect culture, imagine freer futures, and remind one another that we are never alone in what we carry.

At SOL Nation, we recognize that culture is deeply connected to sovereignty. The sounds that come from our communities hold history, power, and possibility. As we celebrate Black Music Month, we celebrate the legacy of Black expression and the ways music continues to nourish the mind, body, spirit, and community.

What are pioneer species? 🌱
In nature, pioneer species are the first organisms to grow in damaged environments, helping restore balance and create the conditions for new life to thrive.

That idea is at the heart of this year’s Bloom Into Action: Ladies First, honoring the women who continue to lead, nurture, rebuild, and create change within their communities.
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon featuring keynote speaker Roxanne Shanté, live entertainment, live art, brunch, music, and fellowship

What song feels like Black community to you? Comment below 👇🏾
________________
Hip hop has always been more than music — it’s memory, community, storytelling, and connection. We asked hip hop enthusiasts what songs take them back and what songs remind them of Black community, and one thing became clear: the vibes, the culture, and the feeling of togetherness still matter.

That same energy is coming to Bloom Into Action: Ladies First, featuring Roxanne Shanté, live entertainment, art, brunch, and community all in one space.

Some women changed the culture and never fully got their flowers while they were doing the work.

Women who helped shape community, creativity, leadership, environmental justice, music, storytelling, and movement building, often long before the world caught up to their impact.
Bloom in Action is about honoring that legacy.

Not just with conversation … but with community … with joy … with music … with storytelling … and with a room full of people who understand why these women mattered.
Join us as we celebrate the women who helped communities bloom.
