Trips for Kids Charlotte is a nonprofit that provides mountain bike rides - as well as the opportunity to Earn-A-Bike - for children ages 10 to 15 from Charlotte's fragile neighborhoods. The organization uses mountain biking and related activities to teach youngsters lessons in personal responsibility, self-empowerment, achievement, environmental awareness, physical fitness and community service.

The Earn-A-Bike program is at the organization's Re-Cyclery in NoDa (corner of 15th and N. Davidson streets), where the public may also donate "dusty but not rusty" bikes or buy a refurbished bike. Proceeds from the Re-Cyclery help fund the overall program.

We’re grateful to have been part of the e-bike locker ribbon cutting at The McNeel Apartments!

Through DreamKey Partners’ commitment to affordable housing and access to our e-bike program, McNeel residents have new options for reliable, accessible transportation. We’re proud to work alongside Charlotte’s Corridors of Opportunity and our community partners to help make transportation more accessible and create opportunities that support Charlotte residents both at home and on the go.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible!

2. Brake Box: Practicing braking technique and learning the difference between front and rear brakes
3. Gear Shifting: Understanding when and how to shift for different terrain
4. Group Ride: Putting new skills into practice while learning communication and group riding etiquette
5. Closing Circle: Reflecting on the ride, celebrating successes, and making sure every rider has a chance to share
