ase call 704-487-6555 for more information on our programs and events. Services and Programs:

• Educational programs for school groups, churches, and civic
organizations
• Emergency veterinary aid to in need animals (when funds are
available)
• Two low-cost spay/neuter programs: Neuter For Life (NFL) and
Born Free Felines

-Neuter for Life is a low-cost spay/neuter program initiated by AWA with the aid of the humane society of Catawba County. This program is available to everyone who owns a pet! Pets are registered by phone prior to surgery, and transported to Foothills Spay/Neuter Clinic in Hickory on the morning of their procedure. To reduce post-operative complications, they are kept overnight until the morning after surgery.

-Born Free Felines is a TNR (trap ‘n’ return) program that offers a low price for trapping/ spaying/ neutering/ vaccinating community cats so that they cannot reproduce, thereby rendering the area in which they live “cat neutral.” Community cats are defined as outdoor, unowned, free roaming cats. These cats could be friendly, feral, adults, kittens, healthy, sick, altered, or unaltered. They may or may not have a caregiver. Born Free Felines are registered by phone prior to surgery, and transported to Foothills Spay/Neuter Clinic in Hickory on the morning of their procedure. To reduce post-operative complications, they are kept overnight until the morning after their surgery. Our Events and Fundraisers:
• Build dog houses for deserving pups at the Dog House Derby!
• The Blessing of the Animals
• Pound for Prevention S***t Shoot
• Wags and Whiskers (Local businesses sell die-cut pet bowls for a
donation that goes towards our Spay and Neuter Program)
