PORCH Charlotte

PORCH Charlotte PORCH is an all-volunteer, grassroots hunger relief organization.

We collect food and cash donations through monthly neighborhood food drives, and then distribute food to hundreds of at-risk families in our community. PORCH started in 2010 in Chapel Hill, NC by three friends - Christine Cotton, Debbie Horwitz, and Susan Romain. What began with collecting a few cans of tuna for a local pantry has grown into a replicable model of monthly neighborhood food drives t

o support local pantries and has spread across North Carolina and into other states. In November 2015, PORCH Charlotte held its first neighborhood food drive to focus on making a positive impact on childhood hunger in Charlotte by partnering with Charlotte Country Day School. After a few years hiatus, PORCH Charlotte has come alive again in January 2021 to help address the urgent food insecurity needs due to the immediate and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are currently collecting in the Madison Park neighborhood to benefit Wedgewood Community Church Food Pantry, and would love to add your neighborhood to the list! Wednesday was another successful monthly food donation pick-up for Madison Park! We collected 72 bags of donations to benefit our local food pantry (Wedgewood Church pantry in partnership with Hearts United for Good). Wow! We were so busy picking up collections that there's no photos to share.

We picked up donations from 32 porches on Wednesday, and donations included lots of pantry items, produce, eggs, milk, bread, beverages, personal care items, household items, and Latin culture items. It all made a big impact for the food pantry...all of the items donated were distributed in 502 bags this week! Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

This month marks 5 years of PORCH Charlotte-Madison Park - woo hoo! Thank you dearly. Wednesday was another successful monthly food donation pick-up for Madison Park! We collected 72 bags of donations to benefit our local food pantry (Wedgewood Church pantry in partnership with Hearts United for Good). Wow! We were so busy picking up collections that there's no photos to share.

We picked up donations from 32 porches on Wednesday, and donations included lots of pantry items, produce, eggs, dairy, diapers and baby wipes. It all made a big impact for the food pantry...all of the items donated were distributed in 479 bags this week! Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

Wednesday was another successful monthly food donation pick-up for Madison Park! We collected 163 bags of donations to benefit our local food pantry (Wedgewood Church pantry in partnership with Hearts United for Good). Wow! These photos are from our volunteers as they collected donations at the Madison Park Trunk or Treat event on November 1st.

We picked up donations from 46 porches on Wednesday, and donations included lots of pantry items, produce (so much fresh stuff this month!), bread, milk, meat, cheese, toilet paper, personal care items, diapers, wipes, and bottled water. It all made a big impact for the Wedgewood Community Church food pantry...all of the items donated were distributed in 715 bags Wednesday night! Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
