Sensory play is the focus of our morning each Friday. This week we made our own play dough to enjoy over the next month. Making play dough is a great way to reinforce the spirit of “making your own fun,” and it allows us to experiment with colors, scents, and textures. This week we scented our first batch of play dough with vanilla extract and cardamom, and colored it with blue spirulina powder. It smelled heavenly as we kneaded it, and used little rolling pins, cutters, and stamps. Later in the afternoon, the play dough came out again. This time the children made cookies, adding dried calendula petals for “sprinkles.” I think the blue and gold color combination is so lovely!
