Momentum has to start somewhere.

In two days, Early Giving opens for Give 8/28.

The first gifts help set everything in motion. They move us closer to our $20,000 goal, give
others a reason to take notice, and turn what if into we've started.

And what we're starting matters.

This year's Give 8/28 campaign is helping bring the EHub Community Campus to life: a
community asset designed to create greater access to opportunity right here in Lakeview. A
place for resident entrepreneurship, youth learning and exploration, community connection,
health and well-being, and the relationships and resources that help families move toward
greater economic mobility.

Early Giving begins Wednesday, August 26.
You don't have to wait for the big day to be part of it. If you believe in what Lakeview is building,
help us start strong.

And bring somebody with you.

Charlotte’s West Side just gained a powerful symbol of history and progress! Two historic 1890s “shotgun homes,” now lovingly named Lula and James, have been relocated and repurposed as affordable housing in the Lakeview neighborhood.

Led by the West Side Community Land Trust in partnership with the Lakeview CLT, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, and the City of Charlotte Government, this project preserves Charlotte’s Black heritage while creating tiny, self-contained ADUs to address the city’s urgent affordable housing needs.

From their origins on West Bland Street to their educational role at the Gantt Center, these homes now serve as proof that historic preservation and community-led affordable housing can thrive together. This initiative shows what’s possible when neighbors, partners, and preservation efforts unite to build both community and opportunity.
