Sacred Muse

Sacred Muse To Equip • To Encourage • To Inspire Sacred Muse is a collaborative creative community developed by artists for artists.

Our goal is simple: to connect creatives with people who are active/prolific in like art forms and faith, to strengthen creativity, deepen spirituality, and to increase in personal skill and artistry. Our hope is that by providing opportunities to encourage, equip and inspire, artists will feel valued, supported and empowered–and that by sharing our artist story, we will be known. “Your job here is to make us look good.” It was my first week on staff at a large church when I heard these words from my new boss. The words were delivered with a smile, half-jokingly, but with an…

Whatever your creative medium, use your "voice" to CREATE MORE! Let's lift some hearts and remind the world of their courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion!

"I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. The poet's, the writer's, duty is to write about these things. It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past. The poet's voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail." William Faulkner

We had an amazing night together on October 22nd...as creatives, disciples and friends. We were led into a powerful time of worship by Keith Dudley and then heard from 3 inspiring people (Jonathan Stone - Pastor of Renovatus Church, Dawn Nicole Anthony - Vocalist/Mentor, and Jasmine Lloyd - Singer/Songwriter). They challenged us to build bridges and make intentional impact with our creative voices. We talked about the difficult things...the things that don't make sense and can isolate us...and we left with the realization that we all belong to each other...that we were meant to bring beauty and hope into the ugliness of the world...and that we're simply better together.

Favorite holy moment of the night: singing "I'm no longer a slave to fear" together. What POWERFUL solidarity.
Favorite quote of the night: "It sounds like what it sounds like, because it is what it is." (Jonathan Stone) He challenged us to let God rattle our comfort zones and to be the ones to step over the issues of prejudice and injustice that divide.
Favorite floor-me creativity of the night: "Bridge Over Troubled Water" sung in 12 part harmony by 1 person. (Dawn Anthony)...I know...riiiiight?!?!
Favorite God story of the night: from slave to worship leader (Jasmine Lloyd) He has brought you SO far, sweet friend!
Favorite realization of the night: Sometimes God lets us experience pain, because it's about what's on the OTHER side of the pain.
Favorite beverage of the night: hot apple cider wassail. Ranked by some (Carrie Givens) as "the glory of God in a cup". :)

Thanks so much to all involved. It was a sober, yet magical night. Your transparency and honesty made it a night we will never forget. We look forward to the next time!
