We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte Serving Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, and Catawba Counties. Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Meeting twice per week in small teams of 8-15 girls, we teach life skills through dynamic, interactive less

ons and running games. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.

Thank you, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), for hosting us yesterday at the inaugural CMS Partner Impact Awards. It was truly an honor to have the Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte council nominated for the Community Catalyst Award and the Heart of Service Award for our volunteers. It was an inspiring evening.

It’s incredible to see the impact being made across our community—153 schools served through local partnerships, $5.82 million raised in donations, and over 210 MOUs completed—reflecting strong accountability and momentum with community partners.

We are honored to be part of this work. Congratulations to all of last night’s award recipients! We’re excited to continue this momentum into the next school year and look forward to the next Partner Impact Awards.

30 Voices: More Than a Finish Line🩷

The Spring 2026 Girls on the Run Charlotte 5K brought together more than 2,100 participants for a morning filled with strength, community, and celebration but one story reminded us what this program is truly about.

Adilyn and her mom, Courtney, showed up on race day carrying both joy and heartbreak, and what unfolded was a powerful reflection of what Girls on the Run creates: a space where girls and families learn to keep moving forward, even when life feels heavy.

From “I can do hard things” written on an arm to a finish line filled with joy and emotion, this is a story we won’t forget.
