Education Day Recap ๐๐
From early childhood education to life after graduation, Leadership Charlotte Class 48 spent the day exploring the full educational landscape of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and the many pathways that shape student success.
We began at Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center, where leaders discussed the importance of early childhood education and access to quality care. At East Mecklenburg High School, class members heard about the school's history, toured the campus through the eyes of student ambassadors, and shared lunch conversations with students about their experiences navigating education today.
The afternoon focused on the broader state of education in our community, highlighting the roles of traditional public schools, charter schools, higher education, and workforce development programs. We wrapped up the day with powerful conversations about postsecondary opportunities and the vital role families, educators, community organizations, and employers all play in supporting students.
The day concluded with a commitment ceremony, where class members reflected on what they learned and identified how they can use their leadership, voice, and influence to strengthen educational outcomes in our community.
Thank you to our speakers, panelists, hosts, students, and partners representing the following organizations who shared their expertise and experiences: Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center, Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, Child Care Resources Inc., East Mecklenburg High School, Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Sugar Creek Charter School, WFAE, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and The ROC Charlotte.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Class 47 team that planned this energetic, innovative day for Class 48.
Together, we were reminded that educating a child truly takes a village. ๐ hashtag
