Early Intervention is a program that supports children from birth to three years old. The first three years of life are a vital time for a child’s development and growth. Early Intervention programs provide strategies individualized to the lifestyle and priorities of the family. By working together with the child’s family, the program strives to ensure that each child reaches their greatest potential and can be successful in their environment.

This week Early Intervention Providers from across the state attended the 2026 Annual MEIC Conference put on by the Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium (MEIC). From the internatioanlly recognized Barry Prizant giving the Keynote, to informative learning sessions (several led by professionals who were members of our EI teams early in their careers), the great networking and collaborating, and of course the fun giveaways we experienced an amazing two days.

Each year we have a strong presence at the conference from our many staff who attend and bring back critical knowledge to our teams, to our very own Early Intervention Division Director who for decades has contributed to planning and ex*****on of the confenrence. This year was no different.

Thank you to everyone who made it another great event!

We want you to meet Maddie and see what her mother has to say about Early Intervention because we think this family is pretty awesome!

"We are incredibly grateful for the support Maddie received from her care team at Northeast Arc and Boston Children’s Hospital. Our daughter Maddie was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at eight weeks old at Boston Children’s Hospital. As part of her treatment, she was referred for Early Intervention services to ensure she was meeting her developmental milestones. While in the Pavlik Harness, Maddie began weekly physical therapy through Northeast Arc’s Cape Ann Early Intervention program.

Over the next year, as she worked closely with her therapists and doctors, Maddie faced significant developmental delays and complex medical challenges. It was during this difficult period that she was diagnosed with a very rare genetic syndrome. Thanks to the foundation built through Early Intervention and Maddie’s incredible determination, she rose above every challenge. At 20 months she began to walk, and not long after, she triumphantly crossed the finish line at Northeast Arc’s Run, Walk & Roll of Inclusion."
