Big Shout Out to the Centerview Community Watch Organization for working with American Red Cross, volunteers, and FFBCF in a community smoke alarm canvas. We visited 30+ homes and installed over 40 alarms. Trying to help keep homes safer in Kannapolis.
If you're part of a community watch group in Kannapolis and want to help keep our community safer, reply back and let me know. Working smoke alarms can help to save lives.

The storm passed, snow is melting but there are still "icey" spots. Keep in mind, slips, trips, and falls until all the ice is GONE. Choose your steps CAREFULLY, walking on ice is a loosing situation.

Remember to change your batteries in ALL smoke & CO alarm, it's a NEW Year !! Know the age of your alarms, look on the back label for a date of manufacture. 10 years from that date is the recommended replacement time. If new are needed, check with your local fire department and ask if they have your type, a good local resource.

As always, Be Safe, call us if you need us.

Winter weather is suppose to be coming. If lots of snow does arrive, maybe just stay home and have a grilled cheese sandwich with soup and beverage of your choice. If you do, remember to bring that aluminum can to one of our 10 trailers in Kannapolis to support the FFBCF. Our latest trailer is at Lakewood Baptist Church on Lane Street, our thanks to the church.

As always, Check your Smoke Alarms and put a new battery in since the new year is here. Don't wait till that "chirp" starts at 2:00 AM.

Kannapolis Fire Department is starting CPR classes again this year beginning February 21. Learning CPR can make a difference in someone's life. Sign up now thru the website below.

More classes will be coming this year. Our goal is to train 100 people or more. Hope to see more requests come in.

Also remember to change your batteries in your smoke alarms and Carbon Monoxide alarms. It's a new year and new batteries will keep your devices working. No one wants to be awaken at 2:00 AM to hear a low battery "chirp" . If you need help in changing your batteries check with your local fire department.

We are a 501-C-3 non-profit and appreciate all the people who support us and donate their cans. You can also make a tax deductible contribution to our Kannapolis chapter. Let me know and I can send you the information.

Have a great and safe holiday.

On this great holiday we are all thankful for our blessings. Be aware that fire doesn't take a vacation and keep safety foremost in our lives. If you use candles, never leave them unattended. When holiday baking, don't forget what you have going on in the kitchen. Fires can start in the oven.

Have a wonderful Christmas, check your smoke alarms, take time to thank the men and women who are working today to help us if needed.

Cold weather is still coming. Stay warm but do it safely. If you know anyone using kerosene for heating, remind them to have a CO alarm in the residence and open a window for fresh air. Carbon Monoxide is known as the silent killer. Do people know you can contact your local fire department and have your smoke alarms checked ? Don't wait for the BEEP at night, change your batteries in home alarms ASAP.
