Our Mission is to support local charities and le***an/gay/bisexual/transgender events while promoting country and western music and dance. How did Southern Country Charlotte begin? Southern Country Charlotte was founded in 1991 by a small group of people with a common interest in
promoting country western music and dance in Charlotte 's GLBT community. As the club's contributions to the community increased, Southern Country Charlotte was established as a non-profit organization. The club continued to grow and became a member of the International Association of Gay and Le***an Country Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC) which coordinates the activities of its member clubs and serves as a central source of information about the gay and le***an country western dance scene. How does Southern Country Charlotte accomplish its mission? The membership of SCC plan and participate in fund raisers such as raffles, barn dances, and periodic hoedowns as well as donation drives to solicit goods specifically targeted for area organizations. Over the years SCC has contributed almost $100,000 in cash, goods and services to local charities. The charities chosen by our general membership through the years have included:
