We are quickly approaching the return to school for both American and Kenyan students...a new school year for America, and term 3 for Kenya!

For sponsors, school fees are due by the end of August when school begins. And if you're not a sponsor yet...why not?!? We are always looking for more sponsors, please message us for more information!

In the meantime, enjoy some pics from the term break!

In honor of Mama Chris's birthday this week, Tatu wanted to share some information about one of his favorite birthday traditions...getting watered! This tradition is both beloved and also a bit dreaded (especially since it's usually done when least expected!)

The practice is pretty simple. On someone's birthday, their family and friends with gather around and throw water on them. Sometimes it's little cups, or big buckets, or even a hose or shower sprayer if available!

A celebration for all ages (though often not for the very young or very old, at least not as strongly!), watering symbolizes growth and life. For after all, plants cannot grow without water!

Here are some of our watering adventures from the past few years. Even Papa Michael wasn't safe, especially since it was his first time celebrating his birthday in Kenya! Mama (luckily, in her opinion) was able to avoid it due to a water shortage at the house, but the kids still celebrated with a hunt to find her and many balloons!

Happy Birthday Mama Chris! All of your rhinos love you!

Mid-term break from school means a full YRM house! With 15 kids and 3 adults it can get a bit hectic around here - we go through 36 yogurts in two days!

This break has seen power-loss ice cream (can't let it melt!), lots of avocados, thrift shopping, and of course fun and games here at the house. We even got a group picture with everyone, which is quite the feat!

Our biggest physical need right now is warmer blankets and extra pillows - while the US is heading into summer, it's nearing winter here in Nairobi. It isn't the northeast winter Mama and Papa grew up in, it does get chilly especially at night and in the mornings.

We pray that God will give us sweet opportunities to minister to and disciple these kids, and we ask you to pray for strength, patience and wisdom for Mama Chris and Papa Michael.

We thank you for your continued support. Please like and share these posts, spreading our worthy cause to everyone you know.

Spring break YRM edition! This school break is a long one due to Easter - 28 days! With the students returning to school this week, we wanted to share a few of the highlights:

- 15 people in the house; which means shopping for and preparing a lot of meals. 3 meals times 15 people = 45 meals per day, 45 meals times 28 days means 1,260 meals served!
- 420 smokies (breakfast sausages) and eggs will be consumed
- 140+ chapati (flat bread) made and consumed
- Over 500 avocados picked
- 5 vegetables planted: tomatoes, Chinese cabbage, peppers, spinach, and bush beans
- 3 trips to the Farmers’ Market
- 2 wisdom teeth removed
- 2 new pairs of eye glasses (no more squinting and headaches, yay!)
- 1 birthday and 1 really big party with 42 guests
- 3 birthday cakes: 1 for school, one for the family party, and one for the big party
- 452 books were scanned and recorded in our new library system, the kids loved helping with this!
- 2 fun excursions, one to the movies with a scavenger hunt after and one to the trampoline park!
- 1 power outage with ice cream because Papa forgot to pay the bill (oops!)
- 2 water tank refills needed

Phew, we are tired! And that doesn't include the home work done, art projects, stories read, games played, and prayers offered. We are so thankful for all of your support while we answer God's calling serving these students and their families.
