During lunch today, our Upper School students took time to reflect on what matters most to them—and shared that appreciation by giving homemade baked goods to their teachers as a small thank-you for the big impact they make every day. 💚

These past two days has been a powerful reminder to see how our community grows even stronger when we center ourselves around a shared purpose: making everyone feel that they matter.

Alumni, we hope you can still feel that same sense of connection and purpose from wherever you are—we certainly feel it from you! 💚

Let’s go Bucs! Let’s make this 7th Annual Alumni Giving Campaign our strongest yet…together. 💪

The second and final day of our 7th Annual Bucs Together Day of Giving is here! 💚

Our Lower School students had the best time showing and telling Bucky exactly why they love being a Buc—the Mattering Wall is full!

From our youngest Bucs to our alumni, the message is the same: being a Buc truly matters.

Let their joy and Bucs pride inspire you—help us reach our goal of 600 alumni gifts today!

Middle School Town Hall this morning brought Bucs spirit front and center!

Director of Alumni Relations Drew Witman ’06 spoke with our Middle Schoolers about Bucs Together Day of Giving—and how Buc alumni across the world are tuned in, inspired, and giving back to what matters most in our community.

After a quick dive into the impact of the Country Day Annual Fund (did you know tuition covers 80% of our operating budget, while 5% comes from philanthropic support (aka YOU)?), we walked under the dome to visit the ever-growing Mattering Wall—then headed to Advisory to hear firsthand what matters to today’s Bucs.

Check it out…💚

And yes, some traditions never change—Town Hall updates still end with: “so come out and cheer us on!” 😉

What mattered to you, Bucs? 📣

As we gear up for our 7th Annual Bucs Together Days of Giving, this year’s theme is “Give for what matters to you.” To spark some inspiration, we asked current students what matters most to them—and their answers say it all.

Now it’s your turn.

On April 14–15, we invite all alumni to make a gift of any size and reflect on what meant the most to you during your time at Country Day. 💚

Was it a teacher or coach who shaped your purpose, a tradition that still makes you smile, or the lifelong community?

Share it in the comments—we’d love to hear your story.

Caroline and Trey, thank you for inspiring hope in Ward’s memory and legacy. 💚

Bucs, thank you for Showing Your Stripes to raise awareness and generate change for the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, their families, and caregivers.

This week, we welcomed alumni back to campus for Alumni Career Connections — giving students the chance to hear from graduates who once sat in their seats and asked the same questions about what comes next.

Across both Middle and Upper School panels, alumni shared honest insights about finding purpose, taking risks, building relationships, and leading with character. From healthcare and finance to media, education, energy, and sports, their paths looked different — but their message was the same: stay open, stay curious, and invest in people and purpose. 💚

Thank you to Alumni Speaker Committee Chair Liz Verhagen Houston ’00 for helping to curate such remarkable alums. Thank you to these Bucs for inspiring and connecting with our students. 👏

On Friday, February 27, we’re asking all you Bucs to Show Your Stripes in honor of Rare Disease Day and in support of Caroline McGuire Winslett ’04, Ward’s Foundation, and the families navigating life with rare disease. 💚

Wear your stripes, snap a selfie or gather your family for a striped pic, and send it our way. Let’s fill the feed with stripes and show that when it matters, Bucs show up for Bucs!

Rare Disease Day is a global movement dedicated to raising awareness for the 300+ million people worldwide living with a rare condition. It’s about visibility, advocacy, research, and reminding families they are not alone.

Ward’s Foundation was founded to honor Ward’s life and legacy by funding research, supporting families, and advancing care for children with rare diseases. The foundation works to bring hope through community, connection, and tangible support for those facing extraordinary medical journeys.

The Bucs are lacing up their dancing shoes 💃🕺—and using the spotlight to serve others. This spring, three alumni will take the stage in Dancing with the Stars events across Charlotte, dancing in support of meaningful causes close to their hearts.

✨ Ike Belk ’06 will dance in Charlotte Ballet’s DWTS, supporting the Peace Through Sport Foundation, which empowers communities, unites nations, and promotes lasting peace through sport in partnership with the 2027 Military World Games coming to Charlotte.

✨ Libby Miller Kelligrew ’80 will also compete in Charlotte Ballet’s DWTS, dancing for Brookstone Schools, which equips under-resourced students for lives of leadership and service, and Mission 34, an organization advancing mental health education, awareness, and advocacy on college campuses.

✨ Joe Wheeler ’07 will hit the floor in DWTS of CLT, using his platform to support cancer awareness and mental health advocacy through organizations including Go Jen Go, Novant Health Agnes Binder Weisiger Breast Health Center, and Katie’s Blessing.

We’re cheering on these Bucs as they dance for impact—on and off the floor! 🪩

Recently our Upper School gathered for a special MLK assembly featuring 2025 Athletics Hall of Honor inductee Dr. Francis Alvin Pearman II ’01. From Country Day to the NFL, and now as a Stanford assistant professor studying how poverty and inequality shape the life chances of children, especially in rapidly changing cities, Alvin reminded us that meaningful achievement is driven not by intellect alone, but by love, sustained attention, and willingness to go deep over time.

Head of Upper School, Nidhi McVicar, reflected on the assembly: “As we close the semester, I am grateful for moments like these that invite reflection and renew our sense of purpose. They remind us that school is not only about what students do, but about who they are becoming and how they are learning to engage with the world.” 💫

The Upper School will engage in a Week of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through an advisory-based BINGO activity, students will participate in a range of service opportunities from book drives to simple acts like offering meaningful compliments to three people in a day. Student leaders are also sharing reflections on Dr. King’s legacy, reminding us that service often begins in small, accessible ways.💚

Alvin – thank you for being a !
