We’re rolling up our sleeves to help make The Plaza safer and more beautiful for everyone walking and biking through the neighborhood — and we need your help!

Join us for a community workday focused on revitalizing the planters and medians along The Plaza. This is just the beginning of a larger effort to improve pedestrian and cycling safety in the corridor.

Volunteer tasks include:
• Painting and decal removal
• Removing old plants and soil
• Replacing rockwool filters and potting mix
• Installing new plants
• General cleanup

Please bring gloves if you have them — this one’s going to get messy. We’ll also need rakes, shovels, brooms, and leaf blowers for cleanup. Meet at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church: 1900 The Plaza.

Grab some neighbors and come out for a fun and productive morning. Coffee and donuts from The Salty will be provided.

Staff Appreciation Week 2026: 5 days, 3 schools, and over 450 staff members served.

A huge thank you to our friends at Manolo's Bakery for partnering with us during Staff Appreciation Week to help provide lunch for the teachers and staff at Villa Heights Elementary School, Eastway Middle School, and Garinger High School.

We’re so grateful for community partners like Manolo’s who continue to show up for our schools and support the people who make them so special every day.

"I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair..." but we love a movie night under the stars!

Our SUMMER LOVIN’ movie series kicks off this Friday with 10 Things I Hate About You. Pack up your blankets and find a spot in the amphitheater — concessions provided by the Dirty Soda & Popcorn Bike. Movie starts at 8:30 pm.

Shoutout to Trope Book Shop and the British Swim School for sponsoring the kickoff. Please be mindful of parking and not blocking neighbor's driveways.

Celebrate spring at Midwood Maynia on Saturday, May 16! This free community festival welcomes the start of outdoor festival season with live music, local food and drinks, family activities, shopping from local merchants, and the beloved Pet Parade led by Grand Marshal Scott Hartis.

The day kicks off with the Blessing of the Pets at The Vine at 10:30 a.m., followed by the parade through the neighborhood.

Midwood Park will be full of festivities from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., including Kidswood activities, community garden programming, beer and wine from Birdsong Brewery and The Bohemian, and live music throughout the afternoon.

Even though the statewide burn ban has been lifted in many areas, it remains in place for Mecklenburg County—and with ongoing drought conditions, it’s especially important to stay cautious.

We’re sharing an update from the NC Forest Service:
- Open burning (leaves, yard debris, burn barrels, campfires) is still restricted locally
- Grilling is allowed—just use caution
- Always check local rules, which may be stricter

Please don’t leave fires unattended and make sure they’re completely out. Staying careful now helps prevent wildfires during these dry conditions.

- Water lawns 2x/week (6PM–6AM) based on your address
- Pool top-offs: Thurs & Sun (6PM–6AM)
- No car washing, pool filling, or non-essential water use

Charlotte Water is moving to Drought Stage 2 with Mandatory Water Restrictions starting May 15 due to ongoing dry conditions. Here's what you need to know:

✅ Lawn irrigation is limited to 2 days/week, between 6 p.m. overnight to 6 a.m.
Odd-numbered addresses → Tuesday & Saturday
Even-numbered addresses → Wednesday & Sunday

✅ Pool top-offs are permitted Thursdays & Sundays, 6 p.m. overnight to 6 a.m. only

🚫 Prohibited until further notice:
- Washing vehicles at home
- Filling residential pools
- Non-essential power washing
- Decorative water features
- Fundraiser car wash events
