North Carolina has increased its market rates for child care subsidy reimbursement, effective Oct. 1. For the first time, this increase also establishes a statewide floor for reimbursement, which helps to close the gap for child care providers in rural counties, where rates have lagged behind their urban counterparts and resulted in disproportionate program closures.

North Carolina's budget included historical investments in the state's child care subsidy program. Here’s where those dollars will go.

Today's Tuesdays in Training spotlight is "Partnering with Families to Address Challenging Behaviors!" When a child uses challenging behaviors at school, parents and teachers need to work together to address the issue. However, when discussing behavior problems, parents often feel blamed by the teachers and teachers often feel unsupported by the parents. This session focuses on developing strategies and skills to make these conversations more productive for everyone… especially the child! Participants will learn how to set the stage for and successfully conduct these difficult conversations with parents. As CCRI begins its 45th year of service, we're giving back to the child care community that has grown with us, and the first gift is for family child care! We're giving away 45 "The Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care" kits to early educators, and we'll be partnering with them for the next year on coaching and implementation. On Saturday, we got to celebrate with the first 20 recipients and unbox the kits together!
