Another productive day for our troop! 🌟

Some of our Scouts tackled the Public Speaking MB, building confidence and learning the value of effective communication. Others explored the Mining in Society MB, gaining a deeper appreciation for the history, science, and impact of mining on our communities.

Both groups had an incredible day filled with learning, discovery, and hands-on experiences. It’s amazing to see our Scouts growing their skills while creating lasting memories. Proud of all they accomplished! ⚜️👏

Our Troop is enjoying a beautiful Friday in Columbia, SC, working on the Forestry Merit Badge! 🌲🍃 It’s been a day full of learning, exploring nature, and gaining a greater appreciation for our forests and the role they play in our environment. This morning, our Pack and Troop 490 leaders came together to plan for the year ahead. We worked on next year’s calendar, discussed finances, and talked about leadership and volunteer opportunities. A strong Scouting program is built by dedicated volunteers, and we’re excited for another great year of adventure, growth, and service!

This incredible accomplishment reflects years of hard work, leadership, dedication, and service to others. From his first days in scouting to achieving scouting’s highest honor, Joseph has shown perseverance and commitment every step of the way.

While it was an awesome day for our older scouts completing their Nuclear Science Merit Badge ☢️, it was also a great day for some fishing! 🎣

These two scouts worked hard on their Fishing Merit Badge today and tackled the updated requirements like pros! They didn’t just catch fish.. they learned the full process by scaling, gutting, cleaning, cutting, and cooking their fish.

Hands-on learning, new skills, and plenty of fun out on the water made for an awesome day. Congratulations scouts on your hard work and dedication! 🐟🔥👏

Troop 490 Leadership in Action!

ILST MODULE ONE - Troop Organization is officially in the books for Troop 490!

Our scouts explored the different leadership positions within the troop, learning the roles, responsibilities, and what it truly means to lead with vision and servant leadership.

They didn’t just learn it, they lived it.

Through team-building challenges like role balancing balloon toss and Willow in the Wind, these scouts strengthened trust, communication, and teamwork. Watching them support one another, step into leadership roles, and grow together was incredible.

Leadership isn’t about being in charge-it’s about taking care of your team. And this group is well on their way.
