Who We Are: Autistic Youth International 🌎

Autistic Youth International (AYI) is an organization focused on creating meaningful opportunities for Autistic and Neurodivergent people, their families, and their communities.

Our work centers around four areas:

🌎 Inclusive events that create welcoming spaces for people with different needs, interests, and ways of participating.

📚 Inclusive books that help children see themselves, their families, and different experiences represented in the stories they read.

📣 Advocacy and outreach that amplify Autistic voices, connect with communities, and help build greater understanding and acceptance.

🎪 The 5th Annual Festival & Pop-Up Market for Autism, our signature community event celebrating Neurodiversity Pride Day through activities, books, art, music, play, sensory experiences, vendors, and community connection.

We believe everyone should have opportunities to participate, belong, and be represented.

AYI is building those opportunities one event, one book, one conversation, and one community connection at a time. 🌎

Our founder, Rebecca Tarrant, has happily accepted a Board of Advisors role for the youth-led movement, the bodymind coalition.

Founded by Jaansi Patel, a young Harvard student, the group is already getting international recognition and accolades by heavyweights like the United Nations.

Autistic Youth International will proudly be supporting this CMPD-led initiative to provide desperately needed supplies for the unhoused on Sept. 2.

If you want to donate or be involved in some way, they are looking for as much community support as possible! Possible ideas include providing food, water, supplies or services.

Thank you to Officer Ritter for his dedication to the unhoused of Charlotte - he is truly one of the Queen City’s finest!
