meet El Tiburón - 2.3 pounds of BDE that we pulled from animal control. they texted us a picture and we immediately saw a problem that most people unfamiliar with rabbits might not have noticed….we saw an overgrown lower incisor. maybe his teeth were overgrowing to make up for his small size but that’s not necessary because he has enough BDE to cover three rabbits his size 😆 we knew animal control didn’t have the tools to properly trim rabbit incisors so we pulled him because thanks to our vet, we have the appropriate tools. when he arrived his teeth were way worse than we thought. we immediately trimmed them and could see that he will continue to require tooth trims. in the meantime this teeny tiny little pocket rocket of a rabbit will be able to eat comfortably, he will get neutered, and we will find him a loving home that is willing to do regular tooth trims.

29” x 17” - not even 3.5 square feet. that’s where Ollie lived for 5 years. when he was surrendered to us it took several hours to clean up his matted fur, clogged scent glands & dirty ears. only 20% of his nails needed to be trimmed because the rest had been broken down to bloody stumps presumably from getting so long that they just broke on their own 😞 we didn’t love how his teeth looked so we got radiographs and it turns out that the roots of his top incisors are too long and impacting into the pallet bone & his upper cheek teeth are too long. this requires sedation and special tools to correct. we need to raise $500 to help this boy be able to eat without pain. please donate if you can 🙏🏼
