🍪 PTSO Treats During Lunch This Week!

The PTSO will be providing treats to students during lunch this week!

📅 Schedule:
• Tuesday, March 17: Seniors & Sophomores
• Wednesday, March 18: Juniors
• Thursday, March 19: Freshmen

On Tuesday, seniors and sophomores will each have designated tables, so be sure to go to the correct table for your grade when picking up your treat.

To receive a treat, students must show volunteers their Infinite Campus profile picture on their phone or computer to confirm their grade level.

Thank you to our PTSO volunteers and your generous annual fund donations for helping make this a fun week for our students!

The PTSO Executive Board met this week to discuss all the incredible work happening through the PTSO at Myers Park!

We were warmly greeted by our amazing front office and registrar volunteers when we arrived. We started our meeting in the Wellness Center and later relocated to the Guidance Reception area once students began using the space.

We shared several exciting updates, including the purchase of new picnic tables, made possible through your generous Annual Fund donations, and just in time for students to enjoy the spring weather outdoors.

Our grade-level committees will also be handing out treats to students during lunches next week, and the Mental Health Initiative Committee will host a Comfort Stone Painting activity during lunches on Wednesday.

Thank you to everyone who supports the PTSO and helps make these initiatives possible for our students and school community.

MPHS parents are invited to attend a free, virtual Research Connection Program hosted by the NC Chapter of the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention on March 12 at 6:30 PM, featuring Dr. Anna S. Mueller, PhD.

In this timely talk, Life Under Pressure: The Social Roots of Youth Su***de and What to Do About Them, Dr. Mueller explores why so many young people are struggling—and how the environments around them play a critical role. Rather than focusing only on individuals, this session looks at schools, families, and communities, and how we can intentionally shape them to better support youth mental health.

This program is designed for parents, educators, clinicians, and community members who want practical, research-based insight into:
🤝Understanding youth su***de through a social and environmental lens
🤝Actionable ways to foster resilience at home and in schools
🤝How communities can support healing and recovery after a loss
🤝Parents will leave with a deeper understanding of the pressures facing today’s teens and concrete ideas for helping create safer, more supportive spaces for young people.

Registration is free and required.

Current juniors in the IB Diploma Program are invited to apply for the Dr. Ron Thomas Award.

Dr. Thomas brought the Middle Years Program to MPHS in 1994, which was the first in the state of North Carolina. He also established Myers Park as the first public high school to offer the Diploma Program, which he proudly led until his retirement in 2019. Dr. Thomas was highly regarded by fellow IB coordinators and loved serving students who were passionate about the world.

Applications will be available on Monday, 3/2. Look for an announcement from Mrs. Sallie Davis!
