🚨Registration is now open for another woodworking workshop for students with visual impairments, led by experienced woodworker and teacher Leigh Northrup.

Students will carve animal footprints, build practical skills, and gain confidence in a structured, calm and supportive setting.

Every participant will leave with their own power carver, accessories, a workshop t-shirt, and personal protective equipment so they can continue woodworking responsibly at home.

All students under 18 are welcome. Two classes are available and the event is completely free.

🗣️KMWDF is thrilled to announce the recipient of our first $10,000 quarterly grant of 2026!

After reviewing many incredibly qualified applications and selecting five outstanding finalists, our Board of Directors chose Brad D. as this quarter’s grant recipient.

Brad was born with a congenital hand disability. He has always loved nature and photography, but over time he developed a deep love for woodworking. After the devastating loss of his young son to a rare and aggressive brain cancer, Brad and his family were faced with unimaginable grief. In the midst of that pain, he found something steady and healing in the workshop.

Our founding president, Jonathan Katz-Moses, often says that woodworking can help people navigate grief and trauma. Brad’s story echoes that truth. Through building and creating, Brad has found purpose, relief, and a way forward.

Brad recently established his own nonprofit, , supporting families facing grief and the trauma of cancer. With the tools this grant will provide, he plans to create educational materials, memorial pieces for grieving families, and meaningful work that serves his community.

KMWDF works to equip makers and woodworkers with disabilities like Brad so they can realize their highest potential. This grant is made possible by the generosity of our generous donors, manufacturers, and retailers who believe in that mission. We are honored to provide assistance and support to woodworkers like Brad and we welcome your donations to keep this mission moving.

Brad, we believe in you and your work. And we are honored to help you push your crafts forward to the next level. Watch for more updates on Brad and his story here on KMWDF socials!

☺️Thanksgiving Day is all about slowing down to count all the good things in life. All the victories. All the challenges that mold us into more talented, skilled and creative artisans. All of the things we’ve accomplished and learned. We have so much to be thankful for!

This Thanksgiving we are reflecting on the word gratitude. Its very definition means recognizing the good we receive and feeling inspired to give back. That spirit guides everything we do at KMWDF.

We feel immense gratitude for every donor, supporter and partner who believes in our mission. Your generosity opens doors for woodworkers with disabilities and gives them access to tools, resources and opportunities that make a real difference in their lives.

We also want to share the gratitude we hear from our grantees. Many express how empowering it is to receive a grant that helps them pursue their craft with confidence and independence. Their appreciation is a direct reflection of your kindness and your willingness to invest in their futures and skills.

As we head into the giving season, we are thankful for your continued support and the impact it creates every day.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at KMWDF! 🦃
